Today we’d like to introduce you to Zhane Bushrod.
Hi Zhane, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey back to esthetics has been a deliberate evolution. After exploring other career pathways, I returned to the field with a specific goal: to immerse myself in different business models and gain hands-on experience with diverse skin types and ethnicities.
I treated each role as a building block. I joined European Wax Center to master their proprietary speed-waxing techniques, then transitioned to Massage Envy to deepen my product knowledge and refine the client experience in a high-volume spa environment. Most recently, working in a boutique med-spa exposed me to advanced clinical treatments, which became the catalyst for me to pursue my Master Esthetician license.
Today, I’m not just returning to solo practice; I’m returning as a more well-rounded professional. This journey taught me that being a great esthetician is about more than just the service—it’s about the technical precision, the networking, and the ability to provide expert care to every individual who walks through my door.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey has been a masterclass in resilience. I’ve faced everything from the logistical hurdles of moving studios to the emotional challenge of finding my tribe in a competitive industry. When I lost clientele during a move, I learned the art of rebuilding; when I encountered negativity, I learned the value of professional boundaries. I’ve had to become my own accountant, researcher, and cheerleader.
These obstacles could have easily caused me to shut down, but instead, they forced me to grow. I’ve emerged with better money management, a deeper technical knowledge, and a commitment to being a positive, respectful force in the skincare world. I make it a point to celebrate the small wins—whether it’s a bit of retail therapy or a well-earned massage—because staying ‘youthful in spirit’ is what allows me to give my best to my clients.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Currently, I am expanding my expertise by pursuing my Master Esthetician license, specializing in a diverse range of treatments—from advanced clinical skincare and full-body waxing to specialized post-operative care for cosmetic surgery patients. While I am widely recognized for my waxing techniques, I am proud to see my audience growing in these newer, specialized fields.
What I am most proud of, however, is my commitment to community outreach. I’ve begun working within the school system to uplift the youth, educating them on the lucrative and fulfilling career pathways available outside of traditional four-year degrees. My ultimate vision is to bridge the gap between passion and profession by creating my own accredited educational system, offering aspiring estheticians a direct path to certification and career success under my mentorship.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Starting this March, I am officially returning to my roots as a solopreneur. This transition allows me to fully curate a bespoke client experience while regaining the flexibility to focus on my master’s studies. I’ve established my new professional home in the Forestville area—a space I am incredibly grateful for as I continue to grow. While I have big dreams for a future warehouse facility, this private studio allows me to provide the intentional, high-quality care my clients deserve. To maintain an intimate and secure environment, the exact location is provided exclusively upon booking.
