Rising Stars: Meet Jada Williams of Maryland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jada Williams.

Hi Jada, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m Jada, originally from the small Caribbean island of Trinidad and Tobago. I moved to the U.S. during high school about 14 years ago.

After graduating high school, I pursued the beauty industry. I attended The Temple Annapolis a Paul Mitchell Partner School , where I earned my cosmetology license. While in school, I actually started off doing makeup before realizing that hair was truly my passion.

Once I completed cosmetology school, I found my niche in natural hair and luxury extension services. I worked at a few salons, continued taking advanced education courses to perfect my skills, and eventually built a strong clientele and name for myself within the industry.

In 2022, I decided to open my first salon, Touched By Jada & Co. My goal was not only to grow my own business, but also to create a community where hairstylists could grow and develop their skills, I wanted to create a space that inspires creativity, collaboration, and opportunities for beauty professionals to become successful in the industry.

As I’ve evolved as an entrepreneur, I’ve also become passionate about the business side of the beauty industry, including financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and helping other beauty professionals create long-term growth and stability for themselves.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth journey. One of the biggest challenges for me was during COVID. As a hairstylist, salons were shut down, and I wasn’t able to work for months. It was honestly a scary time because I didn’t know what my next step would be, and like many business owners, I was worried about how I was going to pay my bills and keep everything afloat.

Another challenge was when I first opened my salon and started building a team. Finding the right people, creating the right environment, and learning how to lead others was definitely a process. There were a lot of lessons that came with entrepreneurship that people don’t always see from the outside.
But by the grace of God, things eventually turned around for me. Those experiences taught me resilience, patience, and how to adapt during difficult seasons. Looking back now, those struggles helped shape me into the business owner and person I am today.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a hairstylist, salon owner, and entrepreneur. I specialize in natural hair and luxury extension services, especially traditional sew-ins, which have become one of my signature services and what many people know me for. I focus heavily on creating natural-looking, healthy styles that help women feel confident and beautiful while still prioritizing the health of their hair.
Over the years, I’ve built Touched By Jada & Co into more than just a salon. It’s become a space where women can come not only to get their hair done, but also to feel empowered and cared for. I’m also proud that I’ve been able to create opportunities for other beauty professionals to grow, develop their skills, and build their own careers within the industry.

What sets me apart is my attention to detail, consistency, and the experience I provide for my clients. I truly care about making people feel good about themselves, and I think clients can feel that when they sit in my chair. I’m also very passionate about the business side of the beauty industry. Beyond hairstyling, I enjoy helping other beauty professionals think bigger, build long-term stability, and understand the importance of entrepreneurship and financial growth.

What I’m most proud of is the fact that I’ve been able to build a brand and business from something I genuinely love while continuing to evolve and expand my vision over time.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happiest is being able to serve others and make a positive impact through what I do. I love seeing my clients leave feeling more confident and beautiful than when they walked in. I truly believe that when you look good, you feel good, and being able to help boost someone’s confidence is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.
I also enjoy helping other entrepreneurs and beauty professionals grow within the industry. Watching my team develop their skills, gain confidence, and grow over the years has been really fulfilling for me. Overall, what brings me the most joy is being able to inspire, uplift, and create opportunities for others while doing something I genuinely love.
