Today we’d like to introduce you to Clinita Atangwa.
Hi Clinita, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Clinita Atangwa and I’m a Founder, Public Health Advisor, and a Doctor of Public Health Student (DrPH). I became a business owner because I wanted to create something that reflected my belief in the power of movement and wellness. Before Ayeza Active, I launched an Amazon FBA business in 2022, which taught me the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and sparked a desire to build a brand of my own. Ayeza Active was born from my personal fitness journey. I wanted activewear that reinforced the person I was trying to become, which was powerful, strong, confident. When I first became intentional about strength training, I often felt uncomfortable and out of place in gym environments that could feel intimidating and male-dominated. I also struggled to find activewear that combined performance, durability, and style. Some pieces looked great but did not hold up through training, while others were functional but lacked the confidence and personality I wanted to feel when I wore them.
I launched Ayeza Active in August 2023 to bridge that gap. Ayeza means “power,” and the brand was created to empower women through fitness and wellness, helping them feel healthy in body and strong in spirit. Our pieces are designed to move with women through intentional workouts and everyday life while making them feel confident in what they wear. But Ayeza is bigger than activewear. I am building a community centered on discipline, confidence, wellness, and purpose. As I continue growing the company, my vision is to use Ayeza as a platform to create meaningful wellness experiences and eventually expand our impact into initiatives connecting fitness, public health, and women’s empowerment. Being a founder has allowed me to turn a personal challenge into a business, and a business into a mission.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road, and I think that is part of what has shaped me into the founder I am today.
One of my biggest challenges has been learning how to grow a product-based business while managing limited resources. Inventory requires significant upfront investment, and as a growing brand, I have had to make careful decisions about what to produce, how much inventory to carry, and where to invest our limited capital. Balancing growth with cash flow has taught me to be strategic and patient.
Another challenge has been getting Ayeza in front of the right customers and building brand awareness in a competitive activewear market. I have had to learn that creating a great product is only one part of building a successful company; developing a community and consistently communicating why the brand matters is equally important. The challenges have made me more disciplined, resourceful, and intentional. They have also reinforced why I started Ayeza in the first place. I am building something I believe in, and every obstacle has taught me how to build it better.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
In my corporate career, I’m a Public Health Advisor overseeing the lifecycle of mental and behavioral health grants. My experience is in leading complex initiatives in project management, policy implementation, and public health. I’m skilled at steering multidisciplinary teams, managing multimillion-dollar contracts/grants, and serving as a trusted advisor to senior government officials. I’m recognized for transforming vision into actionable outcomes through data-driven insights, stakeholder engagement, and executive leadership.
I’m known as a multifaceted woman that follows her ambitions, and isn’t afraid to fail in the process. I’m a woman balancing career, relationships, academia, and business, all while showing up consistently for all. Building a brand that connects what women wear with how they feel is something I am most proud of.
Ayeza means “power,” and our philosophy is rooted in the belief that discipline creates confidence and confidence unlocks your potential. Our goal is not simply to make women look good while they work out, but to help them feel strong, capable, and empowered.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up as child, I was always curious about life. I asked a lot questions, found answers for myself. I was also introverted. I spoke up more when I felt comfortable around the people that surrounded me. I read a lot of books, which sparked my curiosity of the world even more. From an early age, I always new I wanted to be successful. Success not just in material things, but having wealth that has longevity, opens doors, and is generational. Today, that hasn’t change. I work hard to build a legacy that I can be proud of. A legacy that’s impactful, and transforms people’s lives for the better. Becoming an entrepreneur has help me grow tremendously as both a business owner, and as a person overall.
