Today we’d like to introduce you to Tricia Branham.
Tricia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My love for crystals started when I was a child. My family traveled to different campgrounds in our motorhome during summers, and I always remember stopping at places that offered little crystal displays and being fascinated by what I found. As I got older, I grew out of collecting.
When I had my son at 30, something awakened inside of me and my healing journey truly began. I explored my faith more deeply, different cultures, and became fascinated by all of God’s gifts here on Earth. Then I found my old collection of crystals in a moving box. As my son got older, we started exploring and collecting crystals together.
At 35, Beachin Crystal Shop was born. As a single mom working from home, my budget for crystals was limited, so I wanted to create a place where others could learn about them while also having access to beautiful, quality crystals at affordable prices. I started doing live videos on Facebook, teaching others and selling crystals. I absolutely loved it, the people I met and the community that quickly formed around it became an uplifting tribe of beautiful souls.
From there, I expanded into holistic wellness, incorporating doTERRA essential oils and becoming a Reiki Master. Fast forward to today, I’ve had the opportunity to open a storefront just down the street from my childhood home. It feels like everything has come full circle.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely been a wild ride, and there’s honestly too much to even fit in this interview. But through great challenges, comes great success, right?
I was a single mom trying to build a business, attend college, and homeschool my son. I was trying to figure out how to do, and afford, it all. I’m incredibly grateful for my parents, who helped me along the way.
On Sept 28, 2022, I lost access to my personal Facebook page. Both Facebook and Instagram were hacked and deleted, along with my original business pages. At the time, it felt like I had lost everything I worked so hard to build, thousands of followers. I did everything to try to get my platforms back so I could continue my business but I was unsuccessful. So I started over.
Then came some personal health challenges, followed by a difficult pregnancy with my daughter at 38. I was extremely sick and had to step away from my business just as I was trying to rebuild it. Her delivery was traumatic, and that first year was incredibly difficult. She’s a toddler now, so we’re still in the thick of it.
Right before opening my storefront, my mom had an emergency double bypass and nearly died. For two months, my dad and I took shifts so my mom was never alone, I lived in the ICU and then nursing home when she was transferred there. The week I finally brought her home, I started moving into my storefront. She still needed around the clock care so I was wearing many hats. It’s sorta what I do, take it all on and figure it out.
Even opening the shop came with its own challenges, and honestly, there are still daily struggles. There’s minimal foot traffic, so my business relies heavily on people finding us through Google and social media.
We ride each wave as it comes, do our best, be good humans, and always try to find the silver lining. Somehow, no matter what comes our way, everything has a way of working out.
We’ve been impressed with Beachin Crystal Shop, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Beachin Crystal Shop is more than a crystal shop. We offer affordable, quality, ethically sourced crystals and gifts, along with products from local makers and small businesses. I also offer Reiki healing and other holistic wellness options such as doTERRA essential oils.
What sets the shop apart is the feeling I want people to have when they walk through the door. I want it to be a place where you can feel peace, feel comfortable, learn something new, find something meaningful, or simply feel welcome. You don’t have to know anything about crystals or spirituality to enjoy the shop.
I’m most proud that Beachin Crystal Shop has grown from something I started at home into a community of beautiful souls. I’ve always wanted to make crystals and holistic wellness feel approachable and affordable rather than intimidating or exclusive. At the heart of the brand, it’s really about connection, kindness, healing, and finding a little more light in everyday life.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Don’t wait until everything is perfect. I wish I had known how much of owning a business would have nothing to do with the actual business. You have to wear so many hats, and there will be days when you question everything. There will be people and things completely outside of your control that try to knock you off course. Keep going. Give yourself grace, keep showing up, and don’t compare your journey to someone else’s. What works for one business may not work for yours. Stay true to yourself, take the lessons from the hard days, and keep going. Sometimes the path you didn’t plan for ends up taking you exactly where you’re supposed to be.
