Today we’d like to introduce you to Tasha Wilson.
Hi Tasha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into entrepreneurship was never part of a plan. It was born from pain, shaped by lived experience, and ultimately redeemed by God. At sixteen, tragedy changed the course of my life when my father died unexpectedly in a horrific work-related accident. With him, a part of me seemed to vanish. In the depths of grief, I picked up a pen and a journal—an act that quietly reshaped my path and became the first step toward discovering my true purpose. Today, I am an international best-selling author, dynamic speaker, and visionary leader. Operating as Tasha W: Messenger of Hope, I help millennial women transform pain into strength, rising from trauma to resilience, confidence, and purpose. Rooted in faith and fueled by determination, I empower women to reclaim their voices, overcome adversity, and courageously step into their God-given calling. My journey isn’t just about personal success: it’s about breaking barriers, rewriting narratives, and inspiring others along the way. In academia, my books shape future leaders at Johnson C. Smith University, and my research with Information Age Publishing and IGI Global Scientific Publishing advances critical conversations around education and equity. As a proud member of ForbesBLK, I am surrounded by extraordinary Black leaders and innovators who challenge me to grow, take bold steps, and make a lasting impact. My dedication to service has been recognized through numerous honors, including the Governor’s Volunteer Service Certificate (2016), the Christian Women in Leadership Marketplace Forerunner Award (2022), and being named one of APG Media of Chesapeake’s Women to Watch (2024 & 2025). I also had the privilege of contributing to Grammy Award–winning Michelle Williams’ book launch for Checking In (2021), a deeply personal memoir that explores faith, mental health, and the journey of self-discovery.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all. As a naturally introverted entrepreneur, navigating extroverted spaces like networking events and speaking engagements was challenging at first. But I’ve learned to lean into my strengths—listening, observing, and connecting authentically—which has become my superpower. Embracing who I am, rather than trying to be someone else, has been transformative, allowing me to build meaningful relationships, lead with intention, and inspire others to rise above adversity with confidence and purpose. Early on, people often offered unsolicited advice on how I should navigate the newness of entrepreneurship, implying that I should emulate their journey. But the path that is truly mine demands choosing impact over image. I’m not chasing clout; I am building legacy. Purpose matters more to me than platform because it’s not about standing in the spotlight. It’s about creating something meaningful, sustainable, and lasting. I trust that what is meant for me will arrive in its time, and by committing to growth and cultivating purposeful, collaborative relationships, the right opportunities and people will naturally align.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My books are born from real-life experience, blending practicality, accountability, and inspiration. No matter what season of life readers are in, they can see themselves reflected in my work. I specialize in speaking on identity, self-worth, grief and loss, and mental wellness—topics that resonate deeply because I’ve lived them. As a high-functioning woman, I once wore the cape of survival, believing burnout was a badge of honor. I suppressed my emotions, always “being on” to bring joy to others while neglecting myself—a trauma response I didn’t recognize at the time. I know what it feels like to be lost, questioning your purpose and your future. I’ve been in that dark space, but I made a bold choice: I chose to rise. Finding my voice wasn’t easy, but it was freeing. Speaking out not only helped me heal—it empowered others who felt silenced. That’s when I realized my story wasn’t just my own—it was meant to spark change. I am known for being real, relatable, and intentional in creating authentic spaces where others can grow and thrive. I frequently speak at conferences, workshops, educational institutions, and faith-based organizations, delivering messages that uplift, equip, and foster transformation. I’m most proud of turning my painful past into a springboard for living freely and serving as a bridge for others. Beyond awards or recognition, what gives me the greatest pride is seeing the tangible ways my work fosters self-assurance and creates impact in the lives of others.
