Today we’d like to introduce you to Tarah Steinbach.
Hi Tarah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
The Journey to Steinbach Physical Therapy, PLLC
My path to founding Steinbach Physical Therapy, PLLC grew out of a clear, uncompromising vision for patient care: healthcare should be personal, focused, and centered entirely on the individual.
Located steps from the Friendship Heights Metro station, the clinic serves active community members, athletes, performers, and patients recovering from post-surgical procedures across Washington, D.C., and surrounding neighborhoods. By prioritizing individualized assessment, manual therapy, and targeted injury prevention, the goal has always been to help people heal effectively and get back to doing what they love without limitations.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Building a practice from the ground up is as much an internal mind game as it is an operational one. The leap into self-employment brings a unique mix of high stakes, constant problem-solving, and the ongoing challenge of establishing a steady patient flow. These include: Navigating the Early Days of Practice Ownership, Building Momentum and Patient Volume, and Turning Anxiety into Intention.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
After earning my Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree and specializing in orthopedic, sports injury rehabilitation, and performing arts physical therapy, I saw firsthand how traditional high-volume clinic models often fall short. When practitioners are forced to double-book appointments or split time between multiple patients and assistants, the level of tailored attention naturally suffers.
I established Steinbach Physical Therapy, PLLC in Friendship Heights to provide an alternative. The cornerstone of the practice is simple: 1-on-1 care with a Doctor of Physical Therapy during every single session. There are no aides, no double-bookings, and no divided attention.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
My wife and I are very outdoor adventurists: When I’m not in the clinic I’m often out on the water kayaking, cycling, hiking with the fur babies, involved in recreational golf leagues and co-Ed softball teams, or simply staying active outdoors.
