Meet Rockell Jackson of Hire A Character LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rockell Jackson.

Hi Rockell, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I officially started Hire A Character LLC in August 2019. At the time I was booking artists nationwide and was heavily in the entertainment industry. I was managing a DJ in Baltimore, a model in DC, and a couple artists in PG County. I was coordinating events in Baltimore city for Morgan and Coppin College Students on a weekly basis.

With me being in the industry, I noticed how popular costume characters were for all types of events and I put myself in position to supply that demand! I found a nearby vendor and instantly made a great relationship to rent costumes at a low price while I started buying my own costumes. I registered my business made a google page and the business took off! To this day I still put $0 dollars into marketing and we are booked every spring and summer faithfully.

I started off dancing in costume myself and then eventually hired local dancers and college students to help me with events as the business grew and my schedule got busier. This business brings so much joy to our clients and to us as we see the guests smile when we come out in costume! It is a really fun business and I’m glad I created it to pass down to my future children.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
For the most part it has been very easy and very smooth, out of 7 years of consistent events, I can honestly say we have only had 2 bad events where unfortunately an artist couldn’t make an event last minute. One event we were able to do a make up event and one we were not and offered a refund for the inconvenience.

With us having a deep understanding that our services provide entertainment to our clients events and can make or break their event we do take this very seriously and try out best to avoid any hiccups that are in our control. To avoid this I make sure we hire dancers that have a passion in the work they do and as a company we take accountability.
