Today we’d like to introduce you to Reginald Gant.
Hi Reginald, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Reginald Gant. I’m a native of Baltimore, MD. I was born into a married family, but when I was young my parents divorced so I was primarily raised in a single parent household by my mother for as long as I can remember. My father was present for the every other weekend visitation. Growing up, I struggled with self-esteem and self-worth. I oftentimes found myself trying to fit into places and spaces not designed for me. I made many poor choices seeking validation and identity from outside instead of looking within and to my Creator. I became a teenage father to everyone’s surprise including my own. I struggled in many of my relationships as a young man because I didn’t know who I was.
Life changed for me when I came to know Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. When I got married, I finally begin to understand what it meant to be a man, father, and husband God’s way. Now, I commit my life to empowering other men, fathers, and husbands on what it means to lead, protect, provide, and serve God’s way. As Founder of Serve4Men, I integrate leadership, mental health and wellness, fatherhood and family strengthening, workforce development, mentoring, and the curation of safe spaces under one umbrella.
How did I get to where I am today? In 2009, God began speaking to me in dreams. I was told that I would be a leader of leader and a leader of men. Despite my failures, I have been actively and unknowingly, at times, moving towards that direction. Now, as a husband, and father of 5, leader in business, leader in ministry, and leader in my community, my purpose is crystal clear.
I serve to be a blessing to others.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Life has never been smooth for me by any means.
From struggling with low self-esteem and lack of validation from others to even being overlooked and rejected and passed over in the world of work, I have had to fight constantly to remind myself of whose I am and who I am.
Being a teenage father, many ruled me out, but God counted me in.
Growing up with no images or examples of successful marriage, I’ve had to stumble my way through my own, but here we are stronger than ever, and working on year 11, and just now getting started.
From humble beginnings grew a man who now walks in purpose. God’s purpose. I go against what culture defines as manhood and I teach Kingdom Manhood. I lead by example. I desire to be light that shines in dark places.
I am grateful for every trial and tribulation and obstacle that has tried to block me because now I realize that My God is greater and stronger than anything I can ever face. With Him, I can do all things, and my life is dedicated to introducing others to Christ so that they can walk in their purpose, greatness, and destiny as well.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a man of many talents. For the sake of this interview, as Founder of Serve4Men, I equip and empower men, fathers, and husbands to lead, protect, provide, and serve God’s way. I specialize in galvanizing men in safe spaces, pouring into them, and inspiring them to be who they were destined to be. And, that is a great man of God. I am known as a loving husband and father of 5 who is serious about the work that I do. I live a life of service. I believe in greatness.
I am most proud of my marriage and family. They are a mirror that reflects the fruit of my efforts. They show me the good, bad, and ugly in myself. I am honored that God chose me to be a husband and father of 5. With as much responsibility as that is, it comes with so much honor and trust.
What sets me apart is that I live the life I talk about. We live in a world where social media is faking out so many people. To know me is to love me. To see what I post, and to experience me in real life, is one and the same. I am genuine and real and that is why men and others are drawn to me.
I know that I am called by God and equipped to do the work of my Father who sent me. I don’t play about the things in my life that matter. I am here on assignment and I don’t have time to waste.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Mentorship and networking have both carried me really far.
My advice – do both early and often.
Look around and see who has what you need. Become a person who adds value to others. Get into spaces where the magic is happening and glean. Become a giver before you become a taker.
Give first, of yourself, time, and talent, and then it shall be given back to you.
My life is a living testimony.
Being a man of service first has always worked in my favor. My heart is one of service. My advice is to become one who desires to see things and people better after an encounter with you.
