Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Taylor.
Hi Morgan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Morgan Taylor, a Virginia Beach native, is a married mother of three. She is creative director, producer, podcast host, influencer and in full-time ministry as an associate pastor. Morgan’s life took a turning point after her third child when she was diagnosed with postpartum depression (PPD) for the first time. Shortly after, she had a brief run in with cervical cancer and had to have a partial hysterectomy at the age of 29. This experience led her to realize the lack of resources, community, and digital platforms specifically designed for women of color going through womanhood.
Driven by this realization, Morgan set out to create a space where women of color could connect, learn from each other, and feel seen, heard, and empowered. She co-founded Moms Actually in 2022 a podcast highlight moms and telling their stories from their point of view. After closing that chapter, she founded the platform Becoming With Morgan Tyler, which launched in February 2025. Morgan’s prayer for each space she creates is to transform it from just an organization into an opportunity for women to be reminded that their worth is not defined by their titles or responsibilities, but by their true selves.
As a wife and mother of three, Morgan understands the challenges of juggling multiple roles and sometimes losing sight of who she was before the demands of motherhood , marriage and career took over. Earlier this year she experienced a breast cancer scare and it reminded her how much women push through. Morgan dealt with the reality that there are high capacity women out there going from important meetings or appearances to the doctors office for yet another scan or test. After learning the tumor was benign, it pushed her to speak out more and continue to encourage women worldwide to prioritize self-care and grace during their journey of self-discovery and growth.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all. My journey has been far from linear. Growing up the oldest sibling with a single mom, a little sister and high expectations I learned how to survive and simultaneously thrive. After becoming pregnant at the age of 19 and realizing I had to grow up quicker than my counter parts my life changed forever. Navigating early motherhood, learning who I was becoming as a woman of faith and how I wanted to show up in the world was no easy task. I found myself constantly striving, people pleasing and ultimately realizing I wasn’t fully becoming the woman I was called to be. I would sometimes look in the mirror and not recognize the girl looking back. Motherhood, cancer scares, co-parenting, marriage, and finding my footing in my career all at once. It felt like treading water in the deepest parts of the ocean. Sometimes waters were calm and other times I was being overtaken by the waves of life. As I type this I am actively grieving the loss of my estranged father who i lost way before he passed on July 10th. He battled addiction and ultimately his love for my sister and I could not supersede his vices. Even in grief I’m still a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a friend and a leader. So while this is a tough time in my life, things don’t really slow down. This season of my life is teaching me once more on what it looks like to show up for myself before I show up for anyone else. It’s a reminder of God’s grace and how He’s given me the ability to process while seeing others in the way I want to be seen.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’ve been a full time creative for about 5 years. Each year it evolves and it feels as though I add another notch on my belt. I find myself in front of the camera often, but also behind. On any given day I can be strategizing someone’s personal brand and how that translates on their social platforms to filming a new campaign for a brand collaboration, to speaking and teaching other leaders how to show up in their creative roles. I’m a podcast host , leader, associate pastor , producer and creative director. The day depends on the hat or hats im wearing. Even with all of the current hats, I’m excited for how they will continue to evolve over the years and the opportunities that will come from it.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something that still surprises people is that I’m a mom of three. People often look at me and don’t suspect have children or if I do maybe I have a toddler. However, I have a 14 year old, 10 year old and 8 year old. While I’m very vocal about my motherhood journey, I think it still takes people by surprises people how far into my motherhood journey I actually am. I find it an honor to share what I’m learning and what I have learned in motherhood.
