Today we’d like to introduce you to Malaysia Harrell.
Hi Malaysia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story is not one of overnight success, it is a story of becoming.
I did not arrive at this work by strategy alone. I arrived by survival, surrender, and ultimately, alignment.
I grew up navigating childhood trauma and instability, experiences that taught me early how to be hyper-responsible, high-achieving, and emotionally self-reliant. Like many women, especially women of color, I learned how to perform strength before I ever learned how to feel safe. I carried that pattern into adulthood, excelling academically and professionally, eventually serving more than two decades in the military and holding leadership roles at the highest levels of healthcare systems, including working with national and federal agencies.
On paper, I was everything society calls “successful.”
In my body, I was exhausted.
After deployment during the height of COVID, my body began to shut down. I was medically dismissed, misdiagnosed, and nearly lost my life to sepsis. That moment changed everything. It forced me to confront a truth I could no longer outrun: I had built a life that looked impressive, but my nervous system could no longer survive it.
That crisis became my awakening.
Healing required me to stop asking, “How do I push through?” and start asking, “Who am I becoming?” I began integrating clinical therapy with nervous system regulation, spirituality, identity restoration, and embodied healing. What started as my own survival became a calling.
I founded Blissful Life Consulting LLC not to create another coaching brand, but to build a space where high-achieving women could heal without having to fall apart first. Everything I do now, my clinical work, my speaking, my programs, my writing, is rooted in one truth: success should never cost you your health, your identity, or your peace.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road, and I no longer believe it was meant to be.
The greatest challenge I faced was unlearning the belief that my worth was tied to endurance. For years, I was rewarded for pushing past pain, ignoring my body, and prioritizing service over self. Letting go of that identity felt terrifying. Who was I if I wasn’t the strong one? The dependable one? The high performer?
Professionally, transitioning out of institutional systems and into entrepreneurship required me to redefine success entirely. There were moments of financial uncertainty, visibility fears, and internal resistance, especially when my work didn’t fit neatly into traditional boxes. Being both clinically grounded and spiritually integrative challenged conventional norms.
Personally, healing meant facing grief, anger, and loss, not just of people, but of versions of myself I had outgrown.
The hardest lesson was this: burnout doesn’t come from doing too much, it comes from doing too much while disconnected from yourself.
Every obstacle became an invitation to choose alignment over approval. That choice continues to shape everything I build.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Blissful Life Consulting?
Blissful Life Consulting LLC is a holistic mental health and leadership practice dedicated to helping high-achieving women, leaders, and veterans move from burnout and emotional survival into alignment, clarity, and sustainable success.
What sets my work apart is integration.
I blend:
Clinical psychotherapy and evidence-based modalities
Nervous system and trauma-informed care
Identity restoration and emotional regulation
Spiritual grounding and meaning-making
This is not surface-level mindset work. It is deep, embodied transformation.
I am known for helping women who “look fine” but feel empty. Women who are successful but disconnected. Women who are tired of performing and ready to live from truth. Through programs like Align Success Academy, retreats like Align & Rise, corporate wellness initiatives, and keynote speaking, I help clients rebuild their lives from the inside out.
What I am most proud of is that my brand does not sell hustle, it restores humanity.
My clients don’t just achieve goals. They reclaim themselves.
What I want readers to know is this: you do not have to break to be worthy of healing. You are allowed to succeed and be well. That is the standard I am committed to changing.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
The mental health, wellness, and leadership industries are undergoing a necessary reckoning.
Over the next 5–10 years, I believe we will see:
● A shift from symptom management to nervous system regulation
● A move from individual blame to systems accountability
● Greater demand for integrated, holistic care models
● Leaders being evaluated not just on output, but sustainability
● Emotional intelligence becoming a core leadership metric
Burnout is no longer a personal issue, it is a cultural one.
Women, in particular, are no longer willing to sacrifice their health for success narratives that
were never designed for them. The future belongs to leaders and organizations that prioritize
psychological safety, embodiment, and alignment.
I also believe we will see a deeper honoring of lived experience. Credentials will matter, but so
will wisdom earned through survival, healing, and truth.
My work sits at that intersection: clinical excellence, lived experience, and future-forward
leadership.
And this is only the beginning.
