Today we’d like to introduce you to Latisha Barnes.
Hi Latisha , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey started with a desire to help people discover their purpose, grow spiritually, and become equipped to make a difference in their communities. Over the years, that passion developed into Kingdom Academy, a faith-based nonprofit organization focused on teaching, empowerment, outreach, and creating opportunities for others.
The journey has required faith, perseverance, and a willingness to keep building even when I didn’t have everything figured out. I’ve grown as a leader, author, speaker, and entrepreneur, while learning how to turn ideas into programs, events, books, and resources that can impact people beyond the walls of a church.
Today, I serve as President of Kingdom Academy and continue expanding our vision through education, community outreach, conferences, publishing, and resources designed to help people grow spiritually and practically.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has not always been smooth. One of my greatest challenges has been learning how to build while still carrying the responsibilities of everyday life. There were seasons when I had the vision but not all of the resources, connections, or answers I needed to move forward.
I’ve experienced setbacks, disappointments, closed doors, and moments when I had to start over or change direction. But those experiences taught me perseverance, patience, and the importance of trusting God’s timing.
Instead of allowing challenges to stop me, I learned to use them as opportunities to grow. Many of the things I once considered obstacles ultimately helped shape the leader, entrepreneur, and woman of faith I am today.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In my professional career, I work as a technician, where I have developed strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work through challenges effectively. My career has taught me the importance of consistency, professionalism, and serving others with excellence.
Outside of my professional career, I am also the President of Kingdom Academy, a faith-based nonprofit organization. I am an author, speaker, entrepreneur, and community leader with a passion for helping people discover their purpose and grow spiritually and practically.
I am most proud of my ability to balance my professional career while continuing to build the vision God has given me. What sets me apart is that I am not afraid to learn, build from the ground up, and turn ideas into something that can positively impact others.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that purpose doesn’t require perfect conditions. Sometimes you have to begin with what you have, where you are, and trust God with what you cannot see yet.
I’ve learned that closed doors, delays, and setbacks do not necessarily mean that the vision is over. Sometimes they are preparing you, redirecting you, or teaching you something you will need for the next level.
Most importantly, I’ve learned not to measure my journey by someone else’s timeline. I can work a regular job, build a ministry, pursue entrepreneurship, and continue becoming everything God has called me to be. Where I am today is not the limit of where I can go.
