Today we’d like to introduce you to Karla Mostachie.
Hi Karla, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story has always been shaped by creativity and communication. From a very young age, I found different ways to express myself through theater, music, dance, and even arts and crafts. Over time, I realized that something that came so naturally to me could also become a career.
I started creating content online by sharing things that are genuinely part of my life, such as curly hair, beauty, self-esteem, everyday experiences, and the challenges of growing up and discovering who we are. Little by little, other women and girls began to relate to my experiences. That connection showed me that content does not have to look perfect to make an impact — it has to feel real.
At the same time, I built my career as an actress and earned a degree in Education. At first, these fields may seem very different, but they all have something in common: telling stories, communicating ideas, and connecting with people. My background in education taught me how to communicate a message with clarity and purpose, while theater gave me confidence, sensitivity, and creative freedom. Today, I bring all of that into the content I create.
Throughout this journey, I have had the opportunity to work with different brands, participate in campaigns as both an actress and a content creator, and build a community that follows not only what I share, but also the conversations I start. One example is “Papo de Garota,” which means “Girl Talk” in Portuguese. It is a project where I share stories and reflections about self-esteem, life, growing up, and content creation in a warm and relatable way, almost like a conversation between friends.
I am still building my story, but today I can look back and see how every experience has prepared me to be where I am now. I want to continue using my voice, creativity, and stories to help other people feel represented, supported, and encouraged to take up their own space.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been an entirely smooth road. One of my greatest challenges was believing that what I was doing could truly become a career, especially because many people still see content creation as just a hobby. I also had to learn how to deal with comparison, the pressure of numbers, and the unpredictable nature of social media. Sometimes, you spend hours working on an idea and it does not achieve the results you expected; other times, something deeply personal connects with thousands of people. Learning not to measure my worth only by views has been — and still is — an important part of this journey.
Another challenge was finding a way to balance the different sides of myself. For a long time, I tried to manage my studies, my work in education, acting, and content creation all at once. I felt as though I had to choose only one path, until I understood that all these experiences are part of who I am and contribute to the way I communicate.
I also faced insecurities about my appearance and my curly hair. When I was younger, I had very few examples of girls whose hair looked like mine, and for a long time, I believed I needed to change in order to fit in. Today, turning that experience into content and helping other girls recognize the beauty in their own features is one of the most meaningful parts of my work.
The challenges have not disappeared, but I have learned to see them as part of the process. Every stage has taught me to trust my voice, respect my own timing, and keep moving forward even when the results are not visible yet.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Above all, I consider myself an artist. I am an actress and content creator, but art is also part of my life through music, painting, reading, and everything that allows me to imagine, create, and tell stories.
As an actress, I am passionate about the opportunity to bring different characters to life and convey emotions that make audiences feel, reflect, or see themselves represented. As a content creator, I turn real-life experiences into conversations about self-esteem, curly hair, beauty, creativity, and everyday life. I enjoy creating content with personality that makes people feel as though they are talking to a friend, rather than simply watching something designed to capture their attention.
I believe what sets me apart is the way all these creative areas come together. Theater taught me how to perform, improvise, and communicate; reading expanded my imagination and shaped the way I see stories; music and painting strengthened my sensitivity and creativity; and content creation became the space where I can bring all these different sides of myself together.
I am very proud of the opportunities I have earned as an actress and content creator, including audiovisual productions and advertising campaigns, but I am especially proud of the community I am building online. It means a great deal to me when a woman or girl tells me that she connected with one of my stories, felt more confident about her curly hair, or found the courage to start creating something of her own. To me, art and content share the same purpose: creating connections and helping someone feel less alone.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I would like to remind readers that we do not have to limit ourselves to just one version of who we are. For a long time, I thought I had to choose a single path, but today I understand that I can be an actress, a content creator, an educator, and explore all the forms of art I love. Each of these experiences contributes to the person and professional I am becoming.
I also believe that we do not need to wait until we feel completely ready to begin. Much of my journey has been built while I was still learning, experimenting, and discovering my own voice. It is easy to look at someone else’s path and feel as though we are falling behind, but every story unfolds at a different pace.
I still have many dreams, and I am only beginning to build everything I hope to achieve, but I am proud that I never gave up on myself. I hope my story encourages others, especially girls and young women, to embrace what makes them unique, trust their creativity, and take up the spaces they aspire to be in.
