Meet Kadain Wallace of Opulent Creative Design

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kadain Wallace.

Hi Kadain, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My passion for events and décor started long before I ever imagined it becoming a business. I was about 10 years old when I coordinated and hosted my very first event, a surprise birthday celebration for my favorite science teacher while I was in the fifth grade.

Even at that age, I naturally stepped into the role of a planner. I spoke with other teachers and coordinated with them to make sure my science teacher walked into the classroom without knowing what we had planned. During the week leading up to the celebration, I reached out to my friends and their parents to organize the food and other items we needed. When the day finally arrived, we successfully pulled off the surprise. Looking back, I realize that was my first experience bringing a vision to life through planning, teamwork, and attention to detail.

Events were also a big part of my family life. We frequently had gatherings, and as I got older, I naturally became the person who took the lead with organizing, decorating, and setting everything up. I loved seeing an ordinary space transform into something special and watching people enjoy an experience I helped create. It never really felt like work, it was something that came naturally to me.

For years, I planned and decorated events for friends, family, and others simply because I enjoyed doing it. Eventually, I realized that something I had been passionate about since childhood could also become a successful business. I decided it was time to stop treating my talent as just a hobby and take the leap into entrepreneurship.

About three years ago, I made it official and launched my event planning and décor business. Since then, I have continued developing my skills, expanding my inventory, building my portfolio, and learning the business side of the event industry.

What started with a fifth grade surprise party has grown into a business centered around creating memorable experiences for others. Every event reminds me why I started: I genuinely love taking someone’s idea, adding creativity and thoughtful details, and turning it into a moment they will remember.

My journey is still being written, and I am excited about continuing to grow the business, expand the services we offer, and create even more unforgettable experiences for the people and communities we serve.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like anything in business, the journey hasn’t always been a smooth one. There have definitely been challenges, but each one has taught me something valuable and helped me become a better business owner and event professional.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned through trial and error is the importance of being overly prepared. In the event industry, unexpected situations can happen at any moment, so I’ve learned to always have extra supplies on hand, prepare as many materials as possible beforehand, and create backup plans. I’ve also learned that strong time management is essential because every detail has to come together within a specific timeframe.

One of my greatest challenges has been working with venues that provide very limited setup windows. You may have a beautiful vision for an event, but sometimes you only have a short amount of time to completely transform the space. Those experiences taught me that I cannot do everything alone. Building a dependable team and having adequate staff available for setup and breakdown has truly been my saving grace.

I’ve learned to look at challenges as opportunities to improve my systems. Every event teaches me something new about preparation, leadership, communication, and teamwork. Those lessons have helped me become more organized, more efficient, and more confident in my ability to handle whatever comes my way.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Opulent Creative Design, also known as O.C.D., is an event planning and décor company created with one goal in mind: to provide our clients with a beautiful, unique, and hassle free event experience. We believe celebrating life’s special moments should be exciting, not overwhelming, so we work to take the stress out of the planning and decorating process while bringing each client’s vision to life.

We specialize in customized event décor and styling for birthdays, weddings, baby showers, graduations, anniversaries, corporate events, intimate gatherings, and other special occasions. Our services can include everything from balloon installations, backdrops, tablescapes, centerpieces, linens, signage, and specialty décor to event planning and complete event transformations.

What sets O.C.D. apart is our attention to detail and our commitment to making each event feel personal. We don’t believe in simply recreating the same design for every client. We listen to their ideas, understand the atmosphere they want to create, and then add our creativity to develop an experience that feels uniquely theirs. Whether the vision is intimate and elegant, bold and extravagant, or somewhere in between, our goal is always to deliver that opulent touch.

I am especially proud of how the O.C.D. brand has grown. What began as a natural passion for decorating and organizing celebrations has developed into a brand that represents creativity, quality, attention to detail, and memorable experiences. Even our name reflects who we are, we can be a little “O.C.D.” about the details because those small details are often what make the biggest difference.

More than anything, I want readers to know that Opulent Creative Design is not simply about decorating a room. We are creating an experience. From the first conversation with a client to the moment they walk into their completed event space, we want them to feel that their vision was heard, their occasion was valued, and they were able to enjoy their special moment without worrying about all the details behind it.

At O.C.D., our goal is simple: you bring the occasion, and we bring the opulence.

Any big plans?
The future of Opulent Creative Design is something I’m extremely excited about. My long term vision is to expand O.C.D. beyond event planning and décor and eventually open our own full service event venue.

I envision creating a true one stop shop where clients can come to us with an idea and have everything they need for their special occasion in one place. In addition to planning and décor, clients would have access to trusted professionals and services such as catering, DJs and entertainment, photography and videography, makeup artists, bartending, and other event related services.

I also want the venue to create opportunities for other small businesses and talented professionals in the event industry. Building strong vendor partnerships would allow us to provide our clients with a seamless experience while also supporting other entrepreneurs within our community.

As O.C.D. continues to grow, I’m looking forward to expanding our team, increasing our décor and rental inventory, serving larger events, and continuing to elevate the client experience.

What started as a God given childhood passion, has already grown beyond what I originally imagined, so I’m excited to see where the next chapter takes us. Ultimately, I want Opulent Creative Design to become a trusted destination where clients can walk in with a vision and leave knowing that every detail of their celebration is being taken care of.
