Meet Jaysin Horror of Reanimated Apparel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaysin Horror.

Hi Jaysin, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It all starts with me seeing the Michael Jackson video for “Thriller”, and subsequent “Making Of” documentary that sent me down this life long love affair with horror. As a young adult I was going to horror conventions and just got tired of seeing the same three or four shirt designs over and over again, just with maybe a different color in the font, or a photoshop filter thrown over the movie cover image to make it seem “new”. I wanted something unique and new for horror fans, but I wasn’t finding it anywhere. So that’s when I started doing my own clothing line. It started off as Harm City, Inc, then I opted to use Horror Business, but was greeted with a cease and desist, so I had to quickly pivot to City of Horror, which I kept for a number of years before finally graduating to my current company name of Reanimated Apparel

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Oh man, not even remotely smooth! But a lot of it was just me trying to learn and figure things out on-the-fly.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Reanimated Apparel?
Reanimated Apparel is a horror-inspired clothing company born out of the need to see something different, and the D-I-Y ethics of the punk rock scene. I wanted to see original horror inspired street wear that wasn’t for the most popular horror films, and so I set out to create the very thing I wanted to see!

There are a few things I’m really proud of, and they’re actually tied to one another. Back in 2021 I had made the decision to sponsor the return of Furnace Fest, and while there were a million things I hadn’t taken into consideration and was and anxiety-riddled, stressed out mess of a vendor, there was a moment where I was watching Cave In play the main stage and hearing them playing one of my favorite songs while being only a few feet away from my company logo on the stage scrims, that moment told me I was going to be okay!

And then the other event that ties into Furnace Fest was I did the first two years, but skipped year three in an attempt to get some of my debt paid off. Year four though, we returned and that Saturday afternoon I had a mother and daughter come to the booth and while the daughter was meticulously staring at the offerings on the table and on display behind us, the mom pulled me to the side and proceeded to tell me how happy she was to see us back there, that they’d gone the year before and her daughter was so sad that we weren’t there, that we were her daughters favorite company. And while I lost money that weekend as a whole, moments like THAT make it completely worth it to me!
