Meet Jarett Woodbury of Balanced Body Blueprint

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jarett Woodbury.

Hi Jarett, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey into fitness started with a desire to challenge myself and see what I was capable of. It really began when I joined the Coast Guard in 2013. I was a solid 145 pounds soaking wet after boot camp, and at first I was lifting here and there with little to no consistency. It wasn’t until about five years ago that I really began training with purpose and paying attention to my nutrition.
Over time, fitness became much more than just working out. It taught me the importance of discipline, consistency, patience, and having a plan. As a husband, father, and U.S. Coast Guard officer, I know firsthand how difficult it can be to balance a career, family, personal goals, and taking care of yourself.
A major part of who I am today is my wife, Marcia. She has been beside me through the different seasons of my life, supported the goals I’ve pursued, and helped keep me grounded along the way. A lot of what people may see on the outside my discipline, drive, and willingness to keep pushing, has also been strengthened by having a strong woman beside me who believes in me. I don’t take that for granted.

My faith in Christ is also at the center of how I try to live my life and make decisions. Whether it’s my family, my military career, competing, or building my business, I try to make sure I’m not simply chasing success for the sake of success. My faith keeps me grounded and reminds me that how I treat people, how I serve others, and the kind of example I set matter just as much as anything I accomplish.

As I continued to grow in my own fitness journey and started competing in natural bodybuilding, I realized that I wanted to help other people experience that same sense of accomplishment. I went on to earn my certifications as a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach, which eventually led me to start Balanced Body Blueprint (B³).
I built B³ around the idea that fitness doesn’t have to take over your life to be effective. I work with busy professionals, stay-at-home moms, and especially men over 30 who want to lose body fat, build muscle, and feel better about themselves but need a plan that actually works with their lifestyle. My approach is about more than workouts and nutrition. It’s about building sustainable habits, providing accountability, and helping people develop the confidence to keep going even when life gets busy.

Today, I’m continuing to grow my business while serving in the Coast Guard and pursuing my own goals in natural bodybuilding. What I enjoy most is seeing my clients accomplish things they didn’t think were possible. Whether that’s losing weight, getting stronger, becoming healthier, or simply feeling more confident when they look in the mirror, those are the moments that remind me why I started.

My goal has always been to show people that you don’t have to be perfect to make progress. You need a plan, consistency, faith in the process, and the willingness to keep showing up. For me personally, I also know that I haven’t gotten to where I am today by myself. My faith, my family, and especially the support of my wife have played a major role in shaping the man, coach, and leader I continue to become.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges has been learning how to balance everything. Between serving in the Coast Guard, being a husband and father, pursuing my own bodybuilding goals, and building a business, there are only so many hours in a day. I’ve had to learn how to manage my time better, set priorities, and recognize that I can’t do everything at once.

Another challenge has been learning the business side of coaching. Being passionate about fitness and knowing how to help someone get results is one thing, but building a business around that passion is completely different. From developing my coaching programs to creating systems for onboarding, accountability, and client communication, I’ve had to figure out a lot along the way.

I’ve also learned that growing a business takes patience. You can put in the work and not always see the results as quickly as you’d like. That’s something I understand from bodybuilding as well. You have to trust the process, make adjustments when necessary, and keep showing up.

I wouldn’t say I’ve figured everything out, because I’m still learning and growing. But I’ve realized that the same principles I teach my clients apply to building a business. You need a plan, you have to be consistent, and you have to be willing to adjust when something isn’t working. Every challenge has taught me something that has helped me become a better coach and business owner.

We’ve been impressed with Balanced Body Blueprint, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is Balanced Body Blueprint (B³), an online fitness and nutrition coaching business built around helping people achieve their fitness goals while balancing the demands of everyday life.

I primarily work with busy professionals, moms, and beginners, who want to lose body fat, build muscle, and improve their overall health. I understand that between work, family, and everything else life throws at us, finding time to prioritize fitness can be challenging. That’s why I focus on helping my clients build a plan that fits their lifestyle rather than expecting them to completely rearrange their lives around fitness.

What sets B³ apart is my approach to coaching. I don’t believe in handing someone a generic workout or meal plan and expecting them to figure out the rest. Every client has different goals, challenges, and responsibilities. I take the time to understand those things so I can provide personalized nutrition guidance, structured training, and the accountability they need to stay consistent. My primary coaching is delivered through an online platform, which allows me to work with clients wherever they are and make adjustments as they progress. I do meet with my on-line clients for in-person training if they request (within the DMV) for check-ins and training and I also offer in-person training.

My background as a Coast Guard officer has also influenced how I approach coaching. I’m big on having systems, being disciplined, and taking ownership of the things we can control. But I also understand that life happens, and sometimes the plan needs to change. My goal is to help clients develop the habits and confidence to keep moving forward, even when things don’t go exactly as planned.

What I’m most proud of is that B³ is about more than physical transformations. Yes, I want my clients to look better and get stronger, but I also want them to feel more confident, develop a healthier relationship with fitness, and realize what they’re capable of accomplishing.

The message I want people to take away from my brand is that you don’t need to be a bodybuilder or spend hours in the gym to make meaningful progress. You just need a realistic plan, consistent effort, and the right support.

That’s what Balanced Body Blueprint is all about: Built on Systems. Backed by Discipline.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I like most about our area is the diversity and the sense of community. You meet people from so many different backgrounds, and there’s always an opportunity to learn something new or connect with someone who has a different perspective. As a business owner and coach, I appreciate being surrounded by people who are driven, hardworking, and pursuing their own goals. It’s also a great place to raise a family, with plenty of opportunities to get out and enjoy life together.

What I like least would definitely be the traffic! Between work, family, and running a business, time is already a valuable resource, and sitting in traffic doesn’t make things any easier. But I’ve learned to make the most of it, whether that’s listening to something educational, listening to scripture, or just having a little quiet time to myself.
