Meet Heather Franks of Frankly Communicating, Inc

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Franks.

Hi Heather, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my practice offering speech and language therapy in January of 2006 My vision behind this small private practice was to open a small office where families could come and receive quality services focusing specifically on the needs of the clients. I wanted to accept insurance so that those families who did not have the funding for private therapy would also have an opportunity to receive extra help. We all care deeply for our families and strive to assist them achieve their goals at whatever pace it may take. As the demands grew, additional speech therapists were added to the practice. After a few years Occupational therapy was added to the practice.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It absolutely has not. Managing a practice while being a practicing therapist is tough. Patients require authorizations which can be challenging. There are always denials which require a lot of running through hoops to get resolved. It is difficult to meet the demand, we are always on a wait list. Finding new therapist is another obstacle.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Frankly Communicating, Inc is a private practice with offices in Westminster and Annapolis, MD. We offer speech and occupational therapy. Our speech therapist treat all ages, infants through adults while our occupational therapists threat children. I am proud of where I have taken the practice back in 2006 to today. I am proud of how compassionate all my therapist are putting their families first always.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
You can not give up. There will be highs and lows, but you have to pick yourself up from the lows to be able to continue to grow.
