Meet Fayola Whyte-Manco of Creative Motion Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fayola Whyte-Manco.

Hi Fayola, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Creative Motion Events started from a genuine love for creating beautiful, memorable moments. I have always been drawn to details, design, and the way an atmosphere can completely change how people feel. What began as a passion for decorating and helping others celebrate life’s special moments slowly grew into a business built on creativity, faith, consistency, and a lot of hard work.

In the beginning, I was learning everything as I went. I was taking on events, building my inventory, studying the industry, and figuring out how to turn my creativity into a real business. Like many entrepreneurs, I had to balance family, motherhood, work, and business while still showing up for my clients and believing in the vision, even when it felt overwhelming.

Over the years, Creative Motion Events has grown into an event design company serving the DMV area, specializing in elevated décor, custom setups, backdrops, tablescapes, signage, curated rentals, and intentional details that bring each client’s celebration to life. I’m proud that what started as an idea has grown into a brand that people trust with some of their most meaningful moments.

One of the biggest milestones in my journey was opening Creative Motion Event Space in Brunswick, Maryland. Becoming a venue owner was a major step for me, not just as a business owner, but as a Black woman, a wife, and a mother building something from the ground up. That season taught me so much about leadership, operations, community, and what it truly takes to create memorable experiences from both the design and venue side.

Since then, my business has continued to evolve. I made the decision to shift my focus from operating one physical event space to scaling Creative Motion Events in a way that allows us to serve more clients, take on larger and more intentional designs, expand our custom setups and curated rental offerings, and continue growing the brand with purpose. That transition has allowed me to move with more creativity, flexibility, and vision for where the company is headed next.

Today, I’m still growing, learning, and expanding. My goal has always been to create experiences that feel personal, beautiful, and intentional. Not just events that look good, but celebrations that feel special. I’m grateful for every client, every lesson, and every opportunity that has helped Creative Motion Events become what it is today.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, I have had to learn through experience, sacrifice, and a lot of trial and error.

One of my biggest challenges was opening and operating my event space. It was an amazing milestone, but it also came with real challenges. The location, overhead, operations, maintenance, scheduling, client expectations, and the day-to-day responsibility of managing a physical space taught me a lot. It gave me a deeper understanding of the venue side of the event industry and helped me see where I wanted Creative Motion Events to grow next.

Another challenge has been wearing so many hats as a business owner. I still handle a lot on my own, from event design and client communication to bookkeeping, marketing, inventory, contracts, logistics, and making sure everything comes together behind the scenes. People often see the final beautiful event, but they do not always see the emails, invoices, loading, unloading, late nights, decision-making, problem-solving, and pressure that happen before the event ever starts.

Being a business owner in general comes with constant learning. You have to learn how to set boundaries, charge your worth, manage your time, make hard decisions, and keep going even when things feel overwhelming. There were seasons where I had to figure things out as I went, but those moments helped me become more confident and strategic.

Now I am in a season of creating more structure and building a team. I am learning that scaling does not mean doing everything alone. It means creating systems, trusting the right people, and positioning the business to grow in a way that is sustainable. The road has not been easy, but every challenge has helped shape me and helped Creative Motion Events continue to evolve.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Creative Motion Events ?
Creative Motion Events is an event design, décor, and curated rental company serving the DMV area. We specialize in elevated event design, custom setups, backdrops, tablescapes, signage, curated rentals, and thoughtful details that help bring each client’s vision to life.

What we are most known for is creating events that feel personal, intentional, and beautifully put together. I love taking a client’s idea, color palette, or inspiration and turning it into an experience that feels polished and memorable. Whether it is an intimate celebration, wedding-related event, milestone celebration, corporate event, school event, grand opening, or community gathering, my goal is always to create a space that feels special, professional, and aligned with the purpose of the event.

What sets Creative Motion Events apart is the care behind the details. I do not believe every event should look the same. I take time to understand the client, the occasion, the purpose of the celebration, and the feeling they want their guests to have when they walk in. From the design concept to the setup, I focus on creating moments that are beautiful, functional, and meaningful.

Brand wise, I am most proud of the trust we have built over the years. Creative Motion Events has grown from a passion into a business that clients rely on for some of their most important celebrations, private events, and professional gatherings. I am proud that our brand represents creativity, consistency, hard work, and a genuine love for helping people and organizations celebrate meaningful moments with intention.

I want readers to know that Creative Motion Events is continuing to grow and evolve. We are scaling and expanding our design services, curated rentals, custom setups, and creative offerings so we can serve private, corporate, and community clients in a more intentional and elevated way.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories is performing, dancing, singing, and creating little experiences for the people around me. I was always the child who wanted to put something together, whether it was a pretend concert, a birthday celebration, or a fun event for my friends. I loved anything that brought people together and made them feel excited, celebrated, and happy.

Looking back, I can see how much that shaped who I am today. Even as a child, I enjoyed creating moments, setting the tone, and making people feel special. I did not know then that it would eventually become part of my purpose and the foundation of Creative Motion Events, but the love for celebration, creativity, and bringing people together has always been there.
