Meet Dovid Erps of National

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dovid Erps.

Hi Dovid, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Tranquility Spa Treat began as a personal vision rooted in resilience, self-care, and the belief that everyone deserves a moment of peace.

As a disabled veteran and a single parent, I understand firsthand how demanding life can be. Balancing responsibilities, navigating challenges, and still finding the energy to take care of yourself is not always easy. Over time, I came to realize that self-care does not have to be elaborate or expensive. Sometimes, it is simply about creating a few quiet moments to reset, breathe, and recharge.

That perspective became the foundation for Tranquility Spa Treat.

I wanted to create a business that made relaxation feel more accessible to everyday people, especially those who may not have the time or budget for a traditional spa experience. Whether it is a warm bath, a calming candle, an essential oil diffuser, or a simple at-home ritual, I wanted customers to have easy ways to create their own peaceful escape.

From that idea, Tranquility Spa Treat grew into an online destination focused on aromatherapy and home spa essentials, including bath salts, bath bombs, essential oils, scented candles, diffusers, shower steamers, and relaxation gift sets.

Building the business has been a journey of constant learning and perseverance. I have had to grow not only as an entrepreneur, but also as a marketer, website manager, researcher, and brand builder. Every challenge has pushed me to become more resourceful and intentional about the direction of the business.

My military experience taught me discipline, adaptability, and resilience. Being a single parent has taught me patience, persistence, and how to keep moving forward even when life feels overwhelming. Those experiences have shaped both who I am and the kind of business I want Tranquility Spa Treat to become.

Today, the brand represents more than products. It represents the idea that taking care of yourself is not a luxury—it is an important part of maintaining balance in everyday life.

My goal is to continue growing Tranquility Spa Treat into a trusted destination for affordable, spa-inspired self-care products that help people slow down, reconnect with themselves, and create a little more peace at home.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road. Building a business while also being a disabled veteran and a single parent has required a great deal of patience, flexibility, and perseverance.

One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to wear so many different hats at once. As a small business owner, I have had to learn about e-commerce, branding, SEO, digital marketing, social media, customer experience, and product research, often while managing everything else happening in my personal life.

There have also been financial challenges. Starting and growing a business takes investment, and when you are building something from the ground up, every decision matters. I have had to be very intentional about where I put my time and resources while continuing to learn what works best for the business and for my customers.

Another challenge has been standing out in a very competitive wellness and self-care market. There are many established brands, so I have had to focus on what makes Tranquility Spa Treat different: creating an approachable, affordable way for people to enjoy spa-inspired relaxation at home.

Balancing entrepreneurship with being a single parent has also taught me a lot about time management and priorities. There are days when business responsibilities and family responsibilities compete for attention, and I have learned that progress does not always happen in a straight line.

My experience as a disabled veteran has shaped how I approach those challenges. It taught me resilience, adaptability, and how to keep moving forward even when circumstances are not ideal.

Every setback has taught me something, whether it was about the business, the market, or myself. I am still building and learning, but I think that is part of the story. Tranquility Spa Treat has grown through persistence, constant improvement, and a genuine belief in the purpose behind the brand.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Professionally, my career has been built around leadership, technology, cybersecurity, and mission-focused work. I have worked in complex federal and defense environments where I have managed large-scale IT initiatives, supported infrastructure modernization, coordinated cross-functional teams, and helped organizations navigate risk, compliance, and operational challenges.

My background also includes intelligence analysis, which taught me how to look at problems from multiple angles, identify what matters most, and make informed decisions in high-pressure environments. Over time, I transitioned more deeply into IT project and program management, where I have been responsible for bringing together people, technology, timelines, budgets, and organizational priorities to move critical projects forward.

I specialize in managing complex technology efforts, particularly those involving cybersecurity, infrastructure, risk management, Agile delivery, and stakeholder coordination. I am known for being able to step into complicated situations, organize the moving pieces, communicate across different levels of an organization, and keep teams focused on the mission.

One of the things I am most proud of is the scope of responsibility I have been trusted with throughout my career. I have supported programs and portfolios valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars, worked alongside technical and executive leadership, and contributed to projects where security, accountability, and successful execution were essential.

What sets me apart is the combination of experiences I bring to the table. I am a disabled veteran, a single parent, a technology professional, and an entrepreneur. Each of those roles has strengthened different parts of who I am. My military experience helped develop my discipline and resilience. My professional career sharpened my leadership, analytical thinking, and ability to manage complexity. Being a single parent has strengthened my patience, adaptability, and determination. And building Tranquility Spa Treat has challenged me to apply all of those skills in an entirely different way.

I am also someone who believes strongly in continuing to grow. Technology and cybersecurity are constantly evolving, so I continue expanding my knowledge and skills while looking for new ways to apply my experience.

At the core of my professional life is a simple principle: I want the work I do to have purpose. Whether I am leading a technology project, solving a difficult problem, supporting a mission, or building my own company, I take pride in creating structure from complexity and helping move people and organizations forward.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I think luck—both good and bad—has played a role in my journey, but I have also learned that what matters most is how you respond to the circumstances you are given.

There have certainly been moments in my life when things did not go according to plan. Being a disabled veteran, navigating career transitions, raising a child as a single parent, and building a business have all brought challenges I could not necessarily anticipate or control. There have been setbacks, unexpected changes, and moments when I have had to completely rethink what came next.

At the same time, I have also been fortunate. My military and professional experiences gave me skills that I probably would not have developed otherwise—discipline, resilience, leadership, adaptability, and the ability to remain focused when there are a lot of moving pieces. I have also been fortunate to have opportunities throughout my career that allowed me to work in technology, cybersecurity, project management, and other complex environments. Those experiences eventually became tools I could use as an entrepreneur.

In business, timing and opportunity can certainly feel like luck. Sometimes the right idea, connection, customer, or piece of information comes along at exactly the right moment. But I have learned that you also have to be prepared to recognize those opportunities and willing to act on them.

Even some of what I might have considered “bad luck” at the time has ultimately redirected me. Certain challenges forced me to become more resourceful, learn new skills, and think differently about what I wanted for my future. Tranquility Spa Treat is part of that evolution.

So, I would say luck has opened some doors and closed others, but persistence has been the constant. I cannot control every circumstance, but I can control whether I continue learning, adapting, and moving forward.

If anything, my journey has taught me that sometimes an unexpected detour can lead you somewhere you never originally planned to go—and that can end up becoming an important part of your story.
