Hi Dawn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Copper Reins was born from two lifelong dreams coming together. I’ve always dreamed of owning something that was truly my own, something unique that reflected who I am and created meaningful experiences for others. Hospitality has always been at the heart of that dream. I wanted to build something that celebrated community, brought people together, and allowed me to be part of life’s most memorable moments.
I’m a farm girl through and through. I grew up raising cattle, owning horses, and developing a deep appreciation for the beauty and simplicity of country life. Owning a farm has always been a passion of mine, and I wanted to combine that lifestyle with my vision of an elevated mobile bartending experience.
The idea for Copper Reins actually started around a campfire with friends. What began as a casual conversation quickly turned into a spark I couldn’t ignore. From that moment on, I couldn’t stop thinking about creating something elegant, memorable, and unlike anything else in our community. I envisioned a beautifully restored 1997 horse trailer that blended rustic charm with refined hospitality, a business that would leave a lasting impression wherever it went.
One of my favorite parts of Copper Reins is incorporating my love for gardening into our cocktails. I grow fresh herbs in my own garden to use in many of our specialty drinks, adding a personal touch that reflects the farm-to-glass experience I always imagined. As a family-owned and operated business, we embrace the warmth and authenticity of small-town hospitality. Every event is personal to us, and we genuinely care about making each celebration feel special.
Since launching Copper Reins in 2024, we’ve been fortunate to watch our little horse trailer travel to more and more weddings, private parties, and community events. With each event, we’ve grown not only as a business but also as a part of our local community. Seeing guests gather around our converted trailer, sharing conversations, laughter, and celebrations, reminds me exactly why I started this journey.
Today, Copper Reins is more than just a mobile horse trailer bar, it’s an experience built on genuine hospitality, thoughtful details, and personal connections. I take great pride in meeting with every client to create a custom experience that reflects their vision, ensuring their guests leave with memories they’ll cherish. It’s incredibly rewarding to see a dream that started around a campfire become a thriving business, and I look forward to continuing to share my passion for farming, family, and hospitality one celebration at a time.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not! I think that’s what has made this journey so rewarding.
When we decided to convert a horse trailer into a mobile bar, we quickly realized it wasn’t nearly as simple as we had imagined. It was a lot of trial and error, rethinking designs, choosing the right materials, and plenty of head-scratching moments. There were times when we thought we had finally figured everything out, only to discover a better way to do it.
Once we started booking events, we learned that building a beautiful trailer was only half the battle. We quickly realized our setup and workflow weren’t as efficient as they needed to be. During those first few events, we found ourselves constantly bumping into each other behind the bar, mentally making notes about what needed to change. Every event became a learning experience, leading us to redesign our layout, invest in better tools, and create a smoother flow so we could provide the best possible service for our clients.
Like many small business owners, Copper Reins is a passion project that fits around our everyday lives. My husband and I both work full-time jobs while raising our two children and running our family farm. Finding time to manage social media, keep up with ever-changing marketing trends, and film the latest videos that my kids love to tease me about has definitely been one of the biggest challenges. Wearing every hat from owner and bartender to marketer, bookkeeper, and content creator can be overwhelming at times.
But every challenge has helped us grow. We’re constantly learning what works, what doesn’t, and how we can continue improving. Looking back, I’m grateful the journey hasn’t been perfectly smooth because every obstacle has made Copper Reins stronger. It has taught us to be adaptable, creative, and intentional, and those lessons have shaped the business into what it is today.

At its core, Copper Reins is much more than a mobile bartending service we’re in the business of creating memorable experiences. While we certainly serve handcrafted cocktails, our goal has never been to simply pour drinks. We want every guest who walks up to our horse trailer bar to feel like they’re part of something special. Our trailer naturally becomes a gathering place, a conversation piece, and often one of the most memorable details of an event.
What truly sets Copper Reins apart is the heart behind everything we do. As a family-owned and operated business, every event is personal to us. My husband and I, along with our family, are involved in many of the events we serve, and I think our clients can genuinely feel the difference. We treat every wedding, celebration, corporate event, or private party as if we were hosting it ourselves.
I’m someone who believes the little details make the biggest impact. Long before the day of an event, I’m working behind the scenes meeting with clients, planning timelines, designing specialty cocktail menus, growing fresh herbs from my garden for garnishes, and decorating our trailer to complement each event’s unique style and vision. No two events are exactly alike because no two clients are alike. Whether it’s an elegant wedding, a rustic barn celebration, or a backyard gathering, I love transforming Copper Reins into something that feels like it was created just for that occasion.
Being a farm girl at heart has also shaped our brand. Copper Reins reflects my love for horses, agriculture, hospitality, and community. It blends rustic charm with elegant details in a way that feels authentic to who we are. From the name to the trailer itself, every part of our business tells a story.
What I’m most proud of is the reputation we’re building. Since launching in 2024, we’ve continued to grow through word-of-mouth, referrals, and the relationships we’ve built with our clients. There’s no greater compliment than hearing guests say our bar was one of their favorite parts of an event or having clients recommend us to their family and friends.
At the end of the day, we don’t just want to be remembered as the people with the horse trailer bar. We want to be remembered for the experience we created, the hospitality we provided, and the care we put into every detail. When someone chooses Copper Reins, they’re not just hiring bartenders they’re welcoming our family into one of life’s biggest celebrations, and that’s something we’ll never take for granted.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happiest? Honestly, it’s the simple things.
After a busy day, my favorite place in the world is home on our farm. You’ll usually find me wandering through my garden, checking on the horses and cattle, or sitting outside with a glass of wine while pretending I’m going to relax but inevitably spotting ten more things I “should” do.
Dinner time is probably my favorite part of the day. Between running a business, working full-time jobs, and keeping up with the farm, it’s the one time we’re all able to slow down, sit around the table, share a meal, laugh about our day, and catch up on everything that’s going on.
I’m happiest when life feels a little messy, a little loud, and full of the people and animals I love. If there’s dirt on my boots, herbs growing in the garden, my family nearby, and a good glass of wine in my hand, I’d say life is pretty close to perfect.
