Meet Chasity Jones of DC & Surrounding Areas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chasity Jones.

Chasity, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Absolutely—content creation is another unexpected part of how your voice expanded beyond the worship platform. Here is the full version with that incorporated:

My journey began long before I ever imagined myself working in full-time ministry, leading worship, creating music, or becoming a content creator.

As a young child, I was naturally talkative, expressive, and outgoing. However, when I began the fourth grade, I experienced bullying that changed how I saw myself and how comfortable I felt being seen. Over time, I became increasingly shy, quiet, and reserved.

Although I loved to sing, I would only sing in private. I developed terrible stage fright and was afraid to sing in front of other people. The voice and personality were still inside of me, but fear caused me to hide them.

The summer before my senior year of high school, my dad became a pastor. Ministry became a very personal and visible part of my life, but I still did not imagine it becoming my own career or calling. At that point, I certainly never pictured myself standing on a platform and leading others in worship.

My life has truly been a testimony of God’s protection. I was almost aborted, but I believe God preserved my life because He had already placed purpose on it. In addition to the bullying I experienced, I survived domestic violence and three car accidents. I was also diagnosed with stage-four endometriosis, which forced me to confront difficult questions about my health, womanhood, and the possibility of infertility.

Each of those experiences could have completely silenced me, but instead, God used them to give my life, voice, and worship greater depth.

In 2022, I made the difficult decision to leave my dad’s church and embark on a journey of my own. I needed to step away from what had always been familiar and discover what God wanted specifically for me. It was a season of seeking God, rediscovering my identity, and developing a relationship with Him that was personal to me—not solely connected to my family or the ministry environment in which I had been raised.

That decision became a major turning point in my life.

In 2023, I began to feel a strong and persistent desire to pursue full-time ministry. This surprised me because working in ministry full-time was never something I had imagined myself doing. I had grown up around ministry, but I did not automatically assume it would become my own path. Still, the desire would not leave me, and I began to recognize that God was calling me toward something I had not planned for myself.

That same year, I began leading worship. God also blessed me with an opportunity to sing BGV for one of my favorite Gospel Artists, Jor’dan Armstrong. God really began to give me glimpses of what He wanted to do in my life.

For someone who once only sang in private because of fear and stage fright, stepping into worship leadership was a full-circle moment. The girl who had become afraid to be seen or let anyone hear her sing was now using her voice to help entire rooms encounter God.

Worship became more than music to me. It became a place of healing, freedom, surrender, and connection with God. I learned how to worship while I was still hurting, trust God without knowing the outcome, and continue showing up even when my own heart needed healing.

That is why I lead worship the way I do today. I am not simply singing songs; I am leading people toward the same presence and freedom that carried me. My worship has a story behind it.

I served my church as a part-time contract worship leader, while being a full-time government employee. I was faithfully leading, growing, and developing my gifts while balancing ministry with my full-time career. Although I had already felt the desire to work in ministry full-time, I did not know how or when that transition would happen.

Then I lost my government job. For almost a year, I was unemployed and did not know how I was going to sustain myself. It was one of the most uncertain seasons of my life. I could not see what was ahead, but God already had a plan.

The church where I had been faithfully serving part-time hired me as its full-time worship director. What initially felt like the loss of my career became the doorway into the calling God had placed on my heart. The ministry I had once served alongside my government job became the work I was now able to devote my life to full-time.

Today, I serve in full-time ministry as a worship director at Union Church. I lead people into the presence of God, develop worship teams, cultivate healthy ministry culture, mentor others, and help people grow in their gifts. I also pour into women and create spaces centered on healing, freedom, emotional health, and spiritual growth.

I am continuing to grow as an artist and create music from the experiences that have shaped me. I believe God has given me messages that are meant to be released through song. For me, creating music is not separate from ministry; it is another way of sharing my testimony and helping people encounter God. I also create content, which is another path I never imagined myself pursuing. As someone who once became afraid to be seen, it is significant that I now willingly share my voice, personality, faith, creativity, and life with others.

Through worship, devotional content, fashion, honest conversations, testimony, and moments from my everyday life, I want to show people that faith can be authentic, creative, relatable, and lived out in the real world. Content creation has given me another way to connect with people and encourage them beyond the walls of the church.

I want people to experience God not only through what I sing from a platform, but also through what I create and share beyond it. What began as another unexpected step has become an extension of my ministry and another way for me to use my voice.

When I look at where I am today, I see the different parts of who I am finally coming together: the worship leader, artist, songwriter, content creator, mentor, and developer of people..

My journey has not been easy, and my story is still being written. But I can now see that the parts of my life that once appeared disconnected were all preparing me for this moment. The pain gave my worship depth. The rejection taught me where my identity comes from. The uncertainty strengthened my faith. The healing gave me compassion for people. The seasons when I felt silenced gave me something meaningful to say.

God did not only develop my singing voice, He  also restored the confidence, boldness, and freedom that painful experiences caused me to lose. He is now teaching me how to use that voice in ways I never imagined, whether through worship, music, ministry, or content.

My pain did not disqualify me; it became part of my preparation. My authenticity is my power, my worship is my response, and my creativity is part of my ministry. Where I am today is evidence that God can take every part of our story, even the unexpected, painful, and uncertain parts and use it for purpose.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road, but every challenge has helped shape the person and leader I am today.

One of my greatest struggles has been overcoming the fear of being seen. Although I was naturally outgoing as a young child, bullying caused me to become extremely shy and reserved. I loved singing, but I struggled with terrible stage fright and would only sing in private. Because of that, stepping into worship leadership required more than developing my voice. It required rebuilding my confidence and learning to believe that I had something worth sharing.

Another major challenge was discovering my own identity and calling. Because I grew up as a pastor’s daughter, church and ministry were always familiar to me. However, in 2022, I made the difficult decision to leave my dad’s church and begin a personal journey to discover what God wanted specifically for me. I had to separate what I had always known from what I truly felt called to pursue. In 2023, I began feeling a strong desire to work in full-time ministry, even though it was something I had never pictured myself doing. That same year, I started leading worship. I was serving my church as a part-time contract worship leader while also working full-time in government, so I had to learn how to balance my career, ministry responsibilities, personal growth, and the development of my gifts.

When I unexpectedly lost my government job, that desire for full-time ministry was tested. I was unemployed for almost a year and did not know how the transition would happen or how I would sustain myself in the meantime. It was a season that required patience, perseverance, and trust. Eventually, the church where I had been serving part-time hired me as its full-time worship director. Although it was an answered prayer, stepping into the position brought new challenges. I had to grow from someone who simply loved worship into someone capable of leading people, developing teams, building culture, making difficult decisions, and stewarding the responsibility that comes with ministry.

Content creation has stretched me in a different way. I never imagined myself becoming a content creator, and sharing my personality, faith, creativity, and everyday life publicly has required vulnerability. I have had to resist the pressure to be perfect and learn that people connect most deeply with honesty and authenticity.

The road has required me to confront fear, embrace change, remain faithful in uncertain seasons, and continually grow into roles I did not initially see for myself. However, each challenge has confirmed that growth often happens outside of what feels familiar or comfortable. I am still learning and developing, but I now understand that I do not have to wait until I feel completely fearless or fully prepared to take the next step. Sometimes courage is simply being willing to move forward while God develops you along the way.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I currently serve as a full-time worship director at Union Church. My work extends far beyond singing or leading songs on Sundays. I help create worship experiences, develop teams, mentor vocalists and musicians, cultivate healthy ministry culture, and help people grow both spiritually and creatively.

I specialize in worship leadership, team development, and creating environments where people feel safe to encounter God authentically. I care deeply about what happens on the platform, but I care just as much about who people are becoming behind the scenes. My goal is not simply to build talented teams; I want to develop healthy, confident, spiritually grounded people who understand that their gifts are connected to a greater purpose.

I believe I am known for the freedom, honesty, and passion I bring to worship. I do not lead from a place of performance or perfection. I lead from my relationship with God and the experiences that have shaped my faith. My worship is expressive because it is personal. I want people to feel that they have permission to be honest with God, surrender what they are carrying, and encounter Him for themselves.

Outside of my role at Union Church, I am also an artist, songwriter, and content creator. I am currently working on original music that I plan to release within the next six months. The music is being shaped by my experiences, my relationship with God, and the messages I believe He has entrusted to me. My goal is to create songs that give language to what people may be feeling but have not known how to express. I want my music to help people feel seen while pointing them toward hope, healing, freedom, and the presence of God. For me, creating original music is not separate from ministry, but it is another way of sharing my testimony and helping people encounter God.

I also create content centered on faith, worship, personal growth, fashion, testimony, and everyday life. I love showing that a relationship with God can be genuine, creative, joyful, stylish, and relatable. I want people to see that faith is not limited to a church service; it can influence how we heal, create, lead, dress, communicate, and navigate our everyday lives.
What sets me apart is the way ministry, creativity, leadership, and authenticity come together in everything I do. I am not interested in building a platform simply to be seen. I want to use every platform I am given to help other people feel seen. Whether I am leading worship, developing a team member, creating a video, writing an original song, or sharing my testimony, my heart remains the same: I want people to leave feeling encouraged, empowered, and closer to God.

I am most proud of the people I have been able to help develop. There is something incredibly meaningful about watching someone grow in confidence, discover their voice, and begin using their gifts with freedom. I know what it feels like to hide, so creating space for other people to become who God called them to be is deeply personal to me.
I am also proud that I have remained authentic while continuing to evolve. I am learning that I do not have to separate the different parts of myself to be effective. I can be a worship leader, creative, mentor, artist, woman of faith, and content creator, and allow each part to strengthen the others.

My authenticity is my power. I believe what distinguishes my work is not only what I do, but the heart and intention behind it. I want my life and work to remind people that their story has purpose, their voice matters, and they do not have to become someone else to be used by God.

What are your plans for the future?
My immediate focus is releasing original music. I am currently developing songs that I plan to release within the next six months, and I am excited to share another side of my artistry and testimony. These songs are coming from real experiences and my relationship with God, so releasing them feels deeply personal. It is more than putting music into the world; it is allowing people to hear a part of my story in a new way.

I am also looking forward to continuing to grow as a worship leader and full-time worship director at Union Church. I want to keep developing healthy, confident, spiritually grounded worship teams and become an even stronger leader, mentor, and pastor to the people I serve. One of my greatest goals is to help other people recognize their gifts, find their voices, and grow into everything God has called them to be.

Creatively, I plan to become more intentional and consistent with content creation. I want to continue creating content that brings together faith, worship, personal growth, fashion, testimony, and everyday life. I am looking forward to expanding my platform while remaining authentic and creating a community where people feel seen, encouraged, and challenged to grow.

I would also love for my music and ministry to create opportunities beyond the walls of my local church. Whether that looks like leading worship in new spaces, collaborating with other artists and creatives, sharing my testimony, or connecting with people through digital content, I am open to the ways God may choose to expand my reach.

The biggest change for me is allowing myself to fully embrace being an artist and creator. For a long time, I did not see myself as someone who would work in full-time ministry, release original music, or create content publicly. Now, instead of separating those parts of myself, I am learning how they can work together.

I do not know exactly what every part of the future will look like, but I am excited about what I am building. My goal is to continue stewarding my voice, creativity, influence, and leadership well. I want to create work that lasts, develop people who go further than I have, and remain open to opportunities that are even bigger than what I currently imagine for myself.

More than anything, I am looking forward to becoming the fullest version of who God created me to be, and helping other people find the courage to do the same.
