Today we’d like to introduce you to Caitlin Adams.
Hi Caitlin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
* i have been a trainer since I was 16 years old.
* It was intended to be my job in high school and college to help me to pay for college
* I attended UMD and studied kinesiology and economics
* During this time I fell in love with my training- the defining moment was when I was working with my client Val. She was competing in a powerlifting competition after losing 100 lb! Oh and she didn’t step foot into a gym until she was 60
* From there I knew this is what I wanted to do
* 2020 and Covid hit and all the gyms shut down
* I took a little red wagon and was lugging weights around with me to various parks to train people during this time
* I realized i had to get a spot eventually
* I , like many, was furloughed during this time so I couldn’t get a loan
* I pulled my 401k and the money I had and went all in
* That’s when all in fitness was created.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As mentioned in previous prompt: I , like many, was furloughed during this time so I couldn’t get a loan to start
I pulled my 401k and the money I had and went all in. Not knowing where the pandemic was going, I was really betting on myself and also hoping I would be able to continue to operate business
We’ve been impressed with All in Fitness, L.L.C. , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
All In Fitness LLC is a private personal training studio built around the idea that fitness should enhance your life — not consume it or intimidate you. We specialize in one-on-one strength training with a strong focus on helping people build confidence, resilience, and long-term sustainability. While we work with clients of all ages and experience levels, we’re especially known for helping people who may have once believed strength training “wasn’t for them.”
A lot of fitness spaces can feel performative or overwhelming. What sets us apart is that we prioritize relationships and individualized coaching over trends, quick fixes, or ego. Every client who walks through the door has a different story, different limitations, and different goals. Some want to get stronger for a powerlifting meet. Others want to feel comfortable in their body again, keep up with their kids, recover confidence after a major life change, or simply age well. Our approach is rooted in meeting people where they are and helping them discover they are capable of far more than they think.
Strength training is at the core of what we do because I’ve seen firsthand how transformative it can be — not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. One of the things we’re most proud of as a brand is creating an environment where clients feel empowered rather than judged. We celebrate progress in all forms, whether that’s a new personal record in the gym, improved mobility, weight loss, greater confidence, or simply showing up consistently when life feels hard.
Our clients range widely in age and background, and that diversity is something I’m incredibly proud of. We’ve had beginners in their 60s step onto a powerlifting platform for the very first time after life-changing transformations, busy professionals finding balance through training, and people rebuilding their health after years of feeling disconnected from fitness. Those stories mean more to us than aesthetics alone ever could.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that All In Fitness LLC was built from the ground up during one of the hardest periods imaginable. During the pandemic, I was literally pulling weights around in a little red wagon to train clients outdoors before eventually opening the studio. That spirit still defines the business today: adaptability, grit, authenticity, and genuinely caring about the people we serve.
I want readers to know that fitness does not have to start with confidence — sometimes confidence is the result of showing up before you fully believe in yourself. That’s what our brand is about: helping people go “all in” on their own potential.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Sometimes the greater risk is ignoring the thing you feel called to do.
All In Fitness LLC was built on risk. In May 2020, I had a decision to make: play it safe and wait for the “perfect” circumstances, or bet on myself. I ended up pulling my entire 401(k) and putting everything I had into opening the studio. It was terrifying because there was no guarantee it would work. But I also knew I would regret not trying far more than I would regret failing.
That wasn’t the first time I had taken a leap into the unknown, though. During my freshman year of college at University of Maryland, I decided to run across the state of Maryland to raise money for amputees who couldn’t afford prosthetic limbs. I had a running background, but I had absolutely no idea how to organize something of that scale. I didn’t know how to spread the word, raise money, or even realistically complete 410 miles.
It’s hard to explain, but I felt a pull toward it that was very similar to what I felt when I started my gym. There was no roadmap — just a strong conviction that it mattered and that I needed to try. So I approached it the same way I approach most big challenges in life: one step at a time.
That run ended up raising over $25,000 and helped provide prosthetic limbs for eight people. More importantly, it taught me something that has stayed with me ever since: you do not need to have every answer before you begin. Sometimes belief, persistence, and a willingness to move before you feel fully ready are what create momentum in the first place.
I think people often assume risk-taking means fearlessness, but for me it has usually meant moving forward despite fear. Every meaningful thing I’ve built in my life started with uncertainty. The common denominator has always been trusting that if something feels deeply aligned with who you are and the impact you want to make, it’s worth taking the chance.
