Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittanee Brown.
Hi Brittanee, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey in fitness started long before BFITBWELL Fitness Studio ever had a physical home. I graduated from Old Dominion University with a degree in Exercise Science, and I’ve been working in the fitness industry for over a decade. What started with me teaching classes and helping women feel stronger and more confident eventually grew into something much bigger than I originally imagined.
Fitness is also deeply personal for me. I lost my aunt at a young age due to complications related to morbid obesity, and that experience changed the way I looked at health and wellness. It made me realize that fitness isn’t just about how you look—it can truly change the trajectory of someone’s life. That became a huge part of my “why.”
Eventually, I took a leap of faith and opened BFITBWELL Fitness Studio in Maryland, creating a space where women could come exactly as they are and feel supported, challenged, and celebrated. I wanted it to feel different from a traditional gym. We laugh, we dance, we lift heavy, we sweat, and most importantly, we build community.
Over the years, I’ve gone from simply teaching fitness classes to becoming a business owner, personal trainer, stretch therapist, and community wellness advocate. I’ve had opportunities to collaborate with brands and organizations, lead large-scale community workouts, and most recently work alongside Prince George’s County on wellness initiatives that have allowed me to impact women beyond the walls of my studio.
I’m also a wife and a mom, so this chapter of my journey has taught me a lot about evolving. I’m learning how to build a business, raise my daughter, take care of myself, and continue pursuing bigger opportunities without losing the heart behind why I started.
When I look at where I am today, I’m proud of the studio, but I’m even more proud of the community that has grown around it. BFITBWELL has become bigger than workouts. It’s about helping women realize that taking care of themselves deserves a place on their priority list—and I feel like I’m only getting started.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Entrepreneurship will humble you quickly! There have been seasons where business is booming and classes are packed, and other seasons where I’ve had to sit down and completely rethink what I was doing. Owning a fitness studio means constantly adapting—what worked three years ago may not work today.
One of my biggest challenges has been the financial side of entrepreneurship. People often see the classes, events, partnerships and exciting moments on social media, but they don’t always see what happens behind the scenes—the overhead, unexpected expenses, slow seasons, delayed payments, and the pressure of making sure the business continues to operate while still providing a great experience for your community.
Becoming a mother added another layer to that journey. I had to learn how to give myself grace while navigating motherhood, marriage, my own health and fitness journey, and running a business that still needed me. There have definitely been moments where I’ve questioned whether I was doing enough in every area of my life.
I’ve also learned that growth sometimes requires letting go of what’s comfortable. I’ve had to revamp classes, rethink pricing, explore new revenue streams, pursue contracts and partnerships, and put myself in rooms that once intimidated me. Rejection and unanswered emails are part of it too. You learn very quickly that every “no” can’t stop you.
But every difficult season has forced me to become a better businesswoman. I started as someone who simply loved fitness and loved helping people, but entrepreneurship has taught me resilience, patience, creativity, and how to advocate for myself and the value of what I’ve built.
I’m still figuring things out as I grow, and I’m okay saying that. I think sometimes we see successful businesses and assume the owner has everything figured out. I don’t—and I don’t think you ever completely do. You just become more confident in your ability to figure it out.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Bfitbwell Fitness Studio ?
BFITBWELL Fitness Studio is a women-focused fitness and wellness community based in Maryland. While we are a fitness studio, I always say that what we’ve created goes far beyond a workout. My goal has been to build a space where women of different ages, fitness levels, body types, and backgrounds can walk through the door and genuinely feel like they belong.
We specialize in group fitness experiences that make working out feel exciting again. Our programming includes strength training, sculpt, HIIT, step, dance fitness, yoga, stretch and mobility, lower-body focused training, and classes for our more mature population. I’m also a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and certified stretch therapist, so I offer personal training and stretch therapy in addition to our group programming.
One of the things BFITBWELL is known for is our energy. You might walk into a class nervous, but it won’t take long before you’re laughing, dancing, encouraging the woman next to you, and forgetting that you were ever intimidated. I never wanted to create a gym where women felt like they had to already be “in shape” before they showed up. We meet you where you are, but we’re also going to challenge you to discover what you’re capable of.
What sets us apart is the community. We’ve created an environment where fitness and sisterhood exist together. We celebrate the scale victories, but we also celebrate someone lifting heavier, becoming more confident, showing up after a difficult week, improving their health, or simply choosing themselves again. That sense of belonging is something I’m extremely protective of as the brand continues to grow.
I’m especially proud that BFITBWELL has grown beyond the four walls of the studio. We’ve had opportunities to collaborate with other businesses and organizations, participate in community wellness initiatives, and work with Prince George’s County to bring structured fitness and wellness programming to larger groups of women. Those opportunities have shown me that the BFITBWELL experience can translate into corporate, government, school, community, and brand partnerships as well.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that BFITBWELL has an identity. It’s bold, fun, feminine, welcoming, a little loud, and full of personality—and that’s intentional. I don’t believe wellness has to look one particular way. You can lift heavy, have curves, dance during your workout, laugh with your friends, be a mom, be a beginner, be over 50, or be an athlete and still have a place here.
Ultimately, I want readers to know that BFITBWELL is for the woman who wants more than a gym membership. Whether you come to us for group fitness, personal training, stretch therapy, a special event, or a wellness program, I want you to leave feeling stronger than when you walked in—physically, mentally, and sometimes even emotionally.
I’m proud of what BFITBWELL is today, but I’m even more excited about what it’s becoming. My vision is to continue expanding our impact through partnerships, contracts, community wellness initiatives, and eventually a larger footprint—while never losing the community and energy that made people fall in love with BFITBWELL in the first place.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
There are so many ways to work with and support me and BFITBWELL Fitness Studio! Locally, the easiest way is simply to come experience us. Take a class, book personal training or stretch therapy, attend one of our special events, bring a friend, or share BFITBWELL with a woman in your life who may be looking for a fitness community where she feels comfortable and supported.
I’m also very open to collaborations and partnerships. I love working with brands, schools, government agencies, corporations, community organizations, wellness professionals, and other businesses to create fitness and wellness experiences that are engaging and actually get people excited about moving their bodies.
That can look like hosting a workout at your location, developing a wellness challenge, leading employee or community fitness programming, creating a branded fitness experience, collaborating on an event, or building something completely customized for your organization. I especially want to continue expanding BFITBWELL into schools and community-based wellness initiatives because I believe there is so much opportunity to make fitness more accessible outside of a traditional gym environment.
For brands, I’m also available for partnerships, event hosting, fitness activations, content creation, product integrations, and long-term ambassador relationships—especially when the partnership genuinely aligns with health, wellness, fitness, motherhood, or the women I serve.
And support doesn’t always have to mean spending money. Following @bfitbwell on Instagram, sharing our content, recommending the studio, telling someone about a class, or simply speaking our name in a room full of opportunities means more to a small business than people realize.
I’m always open to having a conversation about how we can work together. BFITBWELL started as my passion for fitness, but the bigger vision is to use fitness as a vehicle to build healthier, stronger and more connected communities.
