Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Hill.
Hi Andrea , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey into entrepreneurship grew out of years in technology, operations, and federal contracting — and a layoff that changed how I saw my own experience.
In May 2025, I was laid off from my federal position, becoming one of an estimated 600,000 Black women economically sidelined during that wave of workforce upheaval. I had years of experience and suddenly had to figure out what came next. I also saw minorities, people with disabilities, and seasoned professionals facing similar challenges. I started asking myself, “How can I use what I know to become a resource for people like me?”
That question led to Sable Echelon Innovations LLC. I created the company to provide practical technology, tools, and resources that help people and organizations solve real problems and move forward. Our AI Operations Assessment identifies where AI can save time and money, the Workflow Automation Sprint helps implement those solutions, the Sable Echelon Intelligent Operations System™ brings operations, data, and workflows together, and the Security Readiness Snapshot helps small businesses identify and address security gaps.
As part of my technical ecosystem, I created https://www.vendorready.app/ to help small businesses prepare for government contracting, https://www.grantready.app/ to support businesses pursuing grant funding, and https://sableecheloncareerpathways.com/ to help professionals upskill, pivot, and reposition themselves for new opportunities.
I know how overwhelming a career transition or starting a business can feel when you don’t know where to begin because I’ve lived it. What initially felt like a setback became the motivation to create something that could help others navigate their own transitions. For me, entrepreneurship isn’t just about building a company. It’s about turning what I’ve learned into opportunities for someone else.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth road.
One of my biggest challenges was being laid off in May 2025 after years of building my career. Starting over while figuring out how to turn that experience into a business was hard. On top of that, I’ve had to build without unlimited resources — learning how to take an idea, research it, develop it, and shape it into something people and businesses can actually use.
There have also been moments of doubt. Entrepreneurship means moving forward without having all the answers, and I’ve had to get comfortable learning as I go, making adjustments, and trusting my vision.
What keeps me going is knowing the challenges I’m solving are real — not theoretical. I’ve lived many of them myself, which is why I understand how overwhelming they can be. I’m not where I want to be yet, but every obstacle has taught me something, and I know I’m building something with purpose.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Sable Echelon Innovations LLC is a technology and business solutions company helping solopreneurs, startups, small businesses, and organizations solve practical problems and operate more effectively.
What sets us apart is a simple belief: technology shouldn’t make business more complicated — it should make things easier. My approach starts with understanding the problem, then building a practical solution around it.
Our services include AI Operations Assessments, Workflow Automation Sprints, the Sable Echelon Intelligent Operations System™, and Security Readiness Snapshots — helping businesses find opportunities to use AI, automate repetitive work, strengthen operations, and understand their security risks.
I’ve also built a technical ecosystem of platforms for specific needs: https://www.vendorready.app/ helps small businesses prepare for government contracting, https://www.grantready.app/ supports businesses pursuing grant funding, and https://sableecheloncareerpathways.com/ helps professionals upskill, pivot, and reposition for new opportunities.
None of this came from ideas created in isolation. It comes from real problems I’ve encountered throughout my career, including knowing what it feels like to be overwhelmed by systems, processes, and figuring out what comes next.
I want Sable Echelon to be more than a technology company — a resource that helps people and businesses understand their options, use technology strategically, and move from where they are to where they want to be.
At the end of the day, my brand is built around one thing: creating practical solutions that create opportunities.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
One thing I would want readers to know is that Sable Echelon Innovations LLC is deeply personal to me. It was born from a difficult transition in my own life and from asking how I could turn my experience into something that could help other people.
I’m passionate about creating opportunities for people who may feel overlooked, whether they are trying to restart their careers, build a business, pursue government contracting, find funding, or simply figure out how to use technology to move forward.
I don’t have everything figured out, and I’m still learning and growing along the way. But I believe that sometimes the biggest opportunities come from the moments that force us to start looking at our lives differently.
My hope is that someone reading my story who is currently in that place of uncertainty realizes that a setback does not mean the end of the story. Sometimes it can be the beginning of something you never imagined you would build.
For me, that is what Sable Echelon represents — turning experience into solutions, challenges into opportunities, and setbacks into a reason to keep moving forward.
