Life & Work with Bryan Hedrick of Maryland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryan Hedrick.

Hi Bryan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
M. Bryan Hedrick Jr, known professionally as DJ/producer Bee Blizz has been capturing the hearts and ears of fans across the globe. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Bee Blizz has been involved in music since his early life and has spent the last 15+ years DJing. A few years ago, he took a step back from playing shows, and it was during this time he began to produce his own music. In 2022, he made his official debut when he started sharing his productions with the world, drawing inspiration from the likes of Disco Lines, Joel Fletcher, Fisher, SIDEPIECE and Chris Lake to name a few.

After a series of releases and his first album over the past year, Bee Blizz has been playing shows to showcase unreleased singles and is looking to create that one single to top the charts and bring a dream into reality.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been easy. I’ve had my share of failed tracks that I wish I had spent more time on or ones that I have been quite pleased with myself about that didnt get picked up by a label. Life also has a way of slowing things down. Not all of these struggles have been bad tho. I had my second daughter July of last year and she is my world. I still produce and play shows but my schedule is a bit more limited now. I wouldn’t change it for anything. The best part is that both of my girls got the music gene from me. My oldest has a beautiful voice for being only a young teenager and the 15 month old loves to dance. The biggest takeaway is that no matter how hard the struggle gets, music isn’t going anywhere for me. It’s my lifeblood

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In addition to music, I work for the Maryland Transportation Authority as a project engineer. I was managing projects on the Harbor and Ft. McHenry tunnels but recently took a better opportunity at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. I now manage construction projects on the Eastbound and Westbound bridges. I take alot of pride in this and it’s so much fun climbing and being in places the general public are not allowed to see. That job provides an environment where my ideas are heard and welcomed. I feel great being a part of the team there and it has made me take more ownership in being a professional. I am very good at thinking outside the box and that’s what makes me valuable in all aspects of life, not just the careers I choose.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up I was an outside kid. I love climbing trees, building forts, hide/go seek in the dark and music. I went to church with family and actually made that a big part of my life also. As I got into my adolescent years it was fast cars, girls and music! I’m a very artsy guy with a big imagination that I love to see come to fruition.
