Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Greaver.
Hi Hannah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Building Blocks Pediatric Therapy was founded by my husband and me. I’m a speech-language pathologist, and he’s an occupational therapist. Throughout our careers, we discovered how much we enjoyed collaborating and how much better we were able to support children when we worked together. Ultimately, we decided to take the leap and build a practice that reflected the kind of care we believe every family deserves.
As a husband-and-wife team, we love partnering not only with each other, but also with families, teachers, and other providers to create individualized, meaningful therapy plans for every child. Our different areas of expertise naturally complement one another, allowing us to approach each child from multiple perspectives and provide therapy that is collaborative, engaging, and focused on real-life progress.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The biggest challenge was taking the leap. Starting a business is exciting, but it’s also scary. There are a lot of unknowns, and we were building everything from the ground up while continuing to provide high-quality therapy. Suddenly we had to learn marketing, billing, and business management. We learned to celebrate the small wins, stay flexible, and trust the vision we had for our practice. Looking back, those challenges made us stronger and gave us an even greater appreciation for every family that chooses us to be part of their child’s journey.
We’ve been impressed with Building Blocks Pediatric Therapy, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Building Blocks Pediatric Therapy is a private, in-home pediatric speech and occupational therapy practice serving children and families throughout Maryland. We believe therapy should feel meaningful, engaging, and fit naturally into a child’s everyday life. By providing services in homes, schools, and daycares, we’re able to work in the environments where children learn, play, and communicate best.
What makes us different is our collaborative approach. As a husband-and-wife team of a speech-language pathologist and an occupational therapist, we bring two perspectives to every child we work with. Even when a child is only receiving one service, we’re constantly collaborating behind the scenes to ensure we’re supporting the whole child, not just one area of development.
We pride ourselves on providing highly individualized, family-centered care. We take the time to build relationships with families, communicate with teachers and other providers, and create therapy plans that are practical, functional, and tailored to each child’s unique strengths and needs. Our goal is to help children gain confidence, build meaningful skills, and make progress that extends far beyond the therapy session.
Above all, we want families to know that they’re never navigating their child’s journey alone. We strive to be trusted partners, celebrating every milestone alongside them and providing the support, education, and encouragement they need every step of the way.
What does success mean to you?
We define success by the impact we have on the children and families we serve. Of course, growing a business is exciting, but the moments that matter most are when a child gains confidence, reaches a milestone their family has been waiting for, or a parent tells us that therapy has made everyday life easier.
Success also means building lasting relationships. We want families to feel supported, heard, and empowered long after each therapy session ends. If we’ve helped a child communicate more confidently, participate more fully in daily activities, or given a family the tools they need to continue that progress at home, we’ve done our job.
At the end of the day, our goal is to be a practice that families trust and genuinely look forward to working with.
