Hi Christiana, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey into event planning started with a genuine love for bringing people together and creating meaningful experiences. Even before launching Phoriah Events, I found myself naturally organizing celebrations, coordinating details, and helping family, friends, and my church bring their events to life. What began as something I simply enjoyed doing gradually became a passion/calling. I find it very gratifying watching celebrants laugh and enjoy their day to the fullest and knowing that my team played a part in making it happen
As I gained more experience, I realized event planning was about so much more than beautiful décor or perfectly coordinated timelines. It was about serving people during some of the most important moments of their lives. That realization inspired me to officially launch Phoriah Events with a mission to create intentional, elegant, and memorable celebrations while providing clients with peace of mind throughout the planning process.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of planning weddings, social celebrations, corporate events, and community gatherings. Every event has taught me something new and has helped shape the planner and business owner I am today. Along the way, I have built incredible relationships with clients and vendors, refined my processes, and developed a reputation for attention to detail, professionalism, and calm leadership under pressure.
As the business has grown, so has my passion for giving back to the industry. That is what inspired me to create The Phoriah Blueprint, an event planning masterclass designed to equip aspiring planners with the knowledge, confidence, and practical tools to build successful event businesses of their own. I believe there’s room for all of us to succeed, and I am passionate about sharing what I have learned through experience.
Looking back, I’m incredibly grateful for every opportunity, every lesson, and every client who has trusted Phoriah Events with their special moments. While I am proud of how far we have come, I truly believe this is just the beginning. I am excited to continue serving our clients with excellence, expanding our impact, and creating experiences that people will remember for years to come.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Building a reliable team, knowing how and when to delegate, building a strong support network, managing attitudes and personalities, and curating suitable timelines are some of the challenges I have had to deal with over the years as an event planner. I do not think entrepreneurship is ever a completely smooth road, and my journey has certainly had its share of challenges. Like many business owners, I have experienced seasons of uncertainty, moments of self-doubt, and the pressure of balancing creativity with the realities of running a business.
One of the biggest lessons has been learning that building a reputable brand takes time. It is easy to compare your journey to someone else’s, especially in an industry where people often only see the finished product. I have had to remind myself that every successful business is built one relationship, one event, and one satisfied client at a time.
There have also been the behind-the-scenes challenges that many people do not see—managing the unexpected, navigating difficult situations, making tough business decisions, and ensuring every event is executed at the highest level regardless of the obstacles. Event planning requires flexibility, resilience, and the ability to stay calm under pressure because every event presents unique challenges and no two events are ever the same.
Another challenge has been learning to balance serving others with taking care of myself and family.
As planners, we are naturally wired to put our clients first, but I have learned that in order to lead my team well and deliver excellence consistently, I also have to prioritize rest, boundaries, family time, and personal growth.
Looking back, I would not trade those challenges because they have shaped both me and my business. They have strengthened my leadership, deepened my faith, and reinforced the importance of preparation, adaptability, and perseverance. Every obstacle has become an opportunity to grow, and each experience has made Phoriah Events stronger and better equipped to serve our clients with excellence.

I also value serving with excellence and leading with integrity. My faith is the foundation of who I am, and it influences how I approach every client relationship, every event, and every decision I make. I believe that genuine care, honesty, and going the extra mile make all the difference.
Building Phoriah Events has taught me that success isn’t just about producing beautiful events—it’s about earning people’s trust, creating meaningful experiences, and leaving every client feeling cared for.
