I started doing hair professionally in 2016.
My journey into the beauty industry started with a genuine passion for helping women feel confident and beautiful. What began as a love for hairstyling grew into a career through hard work, continuous learning, and a commitment to mastering my craft. Along the way, I specialized in luxury hair extensions, particularly weave,wigs K-Tip installations, while building my brand, ShellyWeaveBar. I’ve invested in advanced education, refined my techniques, and focused on delivering personalized, high-quality services. Today, I proudly serve clients throughout the DMV area, offering luxury hair extension services and concierge appointments. My goal is not just to create beautiful hair, but to provide an experience that leaves every client feeling confident, valued, and empowered. Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve faced challenges that tested my patience and determination. Building a business from the ground up meant wearing many hats—stylist, marketer, customer service representative, and business owner—all at the same time.
One of my biggest challenges was building a consistent clientele while continuing to invest in education and perfect my skills. There were moments of uncertainty, slow seasons, and times when I had to make sacrifices to keep moving forward. I also had to learn how to market myself, build my brand, and stand out in a competitive beauty industry.
Despite those obstacles, every challenge taught me something valuable. They pushed me to become more resilient, improve my services, and stay committed to my vision. Today, those experiences have helped shape ShellyWeaveBar into a brand that values quality, professionalism, and making every client feel confident and cared for. I’m proud of the journey because it reminds me that success comes through perseverance and a willingness to keep growing.
