Hidden Gems: Meet Robin Belote of Kings kids Early Learning Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin Belote.

Hi Robin, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Robin Belote, and I am the Owner and Director of King’s Kids Early Learning Center, LLC.
In 2014, I was living in Baltimore and working as a Director at a child care center. I served there for three years, but ultimately that job didn’t work out for me. Around that same time, my mother suffered a stroke and needed help running her center, King’s Kids Academy. She called me and asked if I would come support her. I moved back home and began working as her Assistant Director.
In 2015, my mother handed the business over to me. At that time, we were located at 500 E. Lincoln Avenue. I led the center faithfully for years, but in 2024, I began searching for another building so we could expand. I couldn’t find anything that felt right, so I prayed:
“Lord, I thank You for King’s Kids Academy Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.”
I didn’t know how God would do it, but I believed He would.
In September of that year, something unusual happened. I started wearing a perfume called Amazing Grace — and there’s a reason I mention this. That same month, I began receiving phone calls from families looking for infant and toddler openings. The calls were coming because another center in town was closing.
I went to see the building, and when I looked at the name on the sign, it said Amazing Grace. I knew instantly that this was the place God had prepared for us.
I contacted the leasing office and asked for an application. The woman told me many childcare owners had already applied, but I asked for the application anyway. A week later, I received a call saying:
“Out of all the applications, we chose you.”
In October 2024, I met with the leasing company to receive the keys and tour the building. When she handed me the keys, she said:
“These keys are for all three buildings.”
Immediately, I remembered my prayer: “Lord, I thank You for King’s Kids Academy Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.” God had answered it exactly.
It wasn’t easy to open the business. I had to change the name from what my mother originally called it to our new name: King’s Kids Early Learning Center, LLC.
It took seven months to prepare, renovate, and transition into our new location at 1504 Pemberton Drive, Units F, G, and H. We officially moved in on May 19, 2025, and since then, we have experienced tremendous growth.
One of the buildings at our new location is named in honor of my parents:
The Robert and Carolyn Douglas Education Center A tribute to their legacy, sacrifice, and the foundation they laid for me.

That citation is one of the highest acknowledgments I’ve received, and it truly tops them all.
What We Do at King’s Kids Early Learning Center
• We provide high-quality early childhood education for infants through preschool.
• Our program focuses on social-emotional development, early literacy, hands-on learning, and school readiness.
• We create a safe, nurturing, faith-grounded environment where children feel loved, supported, and encouraged.
• Our staff is trained in self-regulation frameworks, positive guidance, and developmentally appropriate practice.
• We partner closely with families, offering clear communication, community events, and strong parent relationships.
• We maintain COMAR compliance, Maryland EXCELS standards, and are actively preparing for national accreditation.
• Today, we are a Maryland EXCELS Level 4 program and are now pursuing Level 5 accreditation — the highest level possible.
I could not have done any of this without the support of my husband, Larry Belote, my wonderful family, my incredible staff, and our supportive parents. Together, we continue to build a center that honors God, serves families, and transforms the lives of children.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey has not always been smooth. One of the biggest challenges I faced was during the transition into our new building. In order to move in, we needed a Certificate of Occupancy, and without it, we could not open. There were several building codes that had to be met, and at the time, I didn’t understand why certain changes were required — especially the installation of an additional exit door, considering the building had already operated as a child care center before I took it over.

We were originally scheduled to move into the building in March, but the process was delayed due to inspections, code requirements, and construction adjustments. It was frustrating, and it felt like setback after setback. But I held onto my faith and reminded myself:

“It’s a delay, not a denial.”

Eventually, everything came together, the requirements were met, and we received the approval we needed. That experience taught me patience, perseverance, and the importance of trusting God’s timing — even when the road is difficult.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was quiet and shy, but I always had a heart for helping people. I naturally gravitated toward caring for others, listening, and supporting anyone who needed it. Even as a young girl, I knew I wanted to work in a field where I could make a difference. My dream was to become a social worker because I loved the idea of advocating for children and families.

That desire to help, serve, and uplift others has followed me throughout my entire life — and it’s a big part of why I am who I am today as a Director, a Pastor, and a community leader.
