Today we’d like to introduce you to Philippa Channer.
Hi Philippa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey into marketing strategy was not a straight line. Like many entrepreneurs, I started by doing what I knew how to do, helping businesses market themselves more effectively. Over time, I noticed a pattern. Most business owners were not struggling because they lacked ideas, motivation, or work ethic. They were struggling because they lacked clarity.
I saw incredibly talented entrepreneurs investing time into social media, networking, websites, email marketing, and countless other tactics, yet many still felt overwhelmed and uncertain about what was actually moving their business forward. They were working hard, but often without a clear strategic foundation.
As I continued working with clients, I realized my role was becoming much bigger than helping them create marketing plans. I was helping them think differently about their businesses. I was helping them step out of the day-to-day demands of being the technician, service provider, or employee inside their business and start thinking like the CEO.
That realization led me to build Channer Consulting around a strategy-first approach. Today, I work primarily with women entrepreneurs, helping them gain clarity around their vision, messaging, priorities, and marketing so they can make decisions with confidence and grow sustainably.
Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of serving on nonprofit and community boards, speaking at events, hosting networking communities, launching my podcast, Clarity to CEO, and most recently writing my book, When Clarity Leads. The book captures many of the lessons I’ve learned from working with entrepreneurs over the years and centers on a message I believe deeply: clarity is not a luxury in business. It is the foundation for effective leadership, focused marketing, and sustainable growth.
Today, my mission is simple. I help entrepreneurs stop feeling scattered and start leading with intention. Because when clarity leads, better decisions, stronger marketing, and meaningful growth tend to follow.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it definitely has not been a smooth road.
Like many entrepreneurs, I started my business with expertise in my field, but not necessarily with all the answers about how to build and grow a company. There were seasons where I said yes to too many opportunities, chased ideas that seemed promising, and spent a lot of time working hard without always being certain I was working on the right things.
One of my biggest challenges was learning the difference between being busy and being strategic. As entrepreneurs, we often believe that if we just work harder, post more, attend more networking events, or add another marketing tactic, the results will come. What I discovered, both in my own business and through my clients, is that activity without clarity can quickly lead to overwhelm.
Another challenge has been balancing multiple roles. I’m a business owner, wife, mother of three, community leader, speaker, podcaster, author, and lifelong learner. There have been seasons where finding balance felt impossible. Learning how to prioritize, set boundaries, and focus on what truly matters has been an ongoing lesson.
I’ve also experienced the normal realities of entrepreneurship. Rejection. Opportunities that didn’t work out. Investments that didn’t produce the return I expected. Events with low attendance. Marketing campaigns that fell flat. Moments where I questioned whether I was moving in the right direction.
Ironically, many of those struggles became the foundation of the work I do today. The reason I talk so much about clarity is because I know what it feels like to operate without it. I know what it feels like to be capable, motivated, and hardworking, yet still feel scattered. The lessons that came from those challenges helped me develop the frameworks and strategies I now teach others.
Looking back, I wouldn’t describe the journey as smooth, but I would describe it as valuable. Every obstacle taught me something about leadership, decision-making, resilience, and the importance of building a business that aligns with both your goals and your life. Those experiences shaped not only the entrepreneur I became, but also the advisor, speaker, and author I am today.
As you know, we’re big fans of Channer Consulting, LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At its core, Channer Consulting helps women entrepreneurs move from feeling scattered in their marketing to leading their businesses with clarity and confidence.
While many marketing professionals focus primarily on tactics, social media, content creation, advertising, or lead generation, my work starts much earlier in the process. I believe most marketing challenges are actually clarity challenges. Before we talk about what to post, where to show up, or which platform to use, we need to understand the bigger picture. Who are you serving? What problem do you solve? What are your business goals? What role does marketing play in achieving them?
I specialize in helping service-based entrepreneurs develop strategic marketing plans that align with their vision, goals, and capacity. Together, we create a clear roadmap that allows them to make better decisions, focus their efforts, and market their businesses more intentionally.
What sets me apart is that I bridge the gap between business strategy and marketing strategy. Many business owners either receive business coaching without practical marketing guidance or marketing support without addressing the underlying business goals driving those decisions. My approach connects the two so entrepreneurs can see how every marketing activity supports a larger business objective.
I am probably best known for helping entrepreneurs think like CEOs. Whether I am working with a client, speaking on stage, hosting my podcast Clarity to CEO, or writing in my book When Clarity Leads, the message is consistent: stop reacting to every opportunity and start making strategic decisions based on clarity.
Brand-wise, I am most proud that the business reflects who I am. The relationships I build matter deeply to me. Many of my clients, collaborators, referral partners, and community connections have become long-term relationships because I genuinely care about their success. I believe you can build a successful business while leading with generosity, integrity, collaboration, and service.
I also take great pride in the community that has grown around my work. Through speaking engagements, networking groups, workshops, my podcast, and local business involvement, I have had the opportunity to connect incredible entrepreneurs who often become resources, partners, and supporters of one another. Creating those connections is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
What I want readers to know is that marketing does not have to feel overwhelming. You do not need to be everywhere, do everything, or follow every trend. When you have clarity about your business, your audience, and your goals, marketing becomes far more focused, sustainable, and effective. That is the work I am passionate about helping entrepreneurs achieve every day.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happiest is my family, my faith, and seeing women entrepreneurs gain the clarity and confidence to fully step into their role as CEO.
My family is my greatest blessing and my biggest source of joy. As a wife and mother of three teenagers, some of my favorite moments are often the simple ones. Spending time together, sharing meals, supporting each other’s goals, laughing over everyday moments, and creating memories through the different seasons of life. They keep me grounded and remind me why I work so hard to build a business that supports the life I want to live.
My faith is also a central part of who I am. It shapes my values, guides my decisions, and provides perspective during both the successes and challenges of entrepreneurship. It reminds me that leadership is about service, stewardship, and making a positive impact on the people around us.
Professionally, nothing brings me more joy than watching a woman entrepreneur experience what I call a “clarity moment.” It’s that point where the overwhelm starts to fade, the pieces begin to connect, and she realizes she doesn’t have to do everything. She simply needs a strategy that aligns with her goals.
I have watched clients go from questioning themselves and constantly second-guessing their decisions to confidently leading their businesses with intention. Seeing someone move from feeling scattered and reactive to feeling focused, strategic, and empowered is incredibly rewarding. Those moments remind me why I do this work.
At the end of the day, whether it’s with my family, through my faith, or through my work, what makes me happiest is helping people grow into who they were created to be and seeing them move forward with greater confidence and purpose.
