Today we’d like to introduce you to Mia Proctor.
Hi Mia , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
As a child, I always experienced the world differently. I was deeply sensitive, intuitive, and felt things on a level that many people around me did not understand. That sensitivity followed me into adulthood, and in 2017, my gift of clairvoyance awakened more fully. I began seeing images, energies, and spiritual impressions around me, which sparked a deep curiosity within me to learn and understand more about these experiences.
That journey led me to books, spiritual teachings, classes, and different healing modalities as I searched for understanding and grounding. At times, the path felt isolating because I was experiencing things that others around me could not see or relate to. In 2019, I found Reiki, and it became an avenue for healing, balance, and self-discovery. Reiki helped me reconnect to myself, ground my energy, and better understand the gifts I carried.
In 2021, Mia Moon Creations was born. I have always been someone who naturally helped others, offering guidance, support, and compassion to friends and loved ones. Through building this business and stepping more fully into my purpose, my gifts continued to strengthen, and I was able to create a beautiful community rooted in healing, mindfulness, and connection.
Today, I offer Reiki, shamanic healing, sound healing meditations, Reiki trainings, workshops, and sacred healing experiences designed to support others on their journeys. Along the way, I also developed a deeper understanding of my ancestral connection to Maryland and the significance both sides of my family have had within this land. My ancestors were healers, root workers, farmers, and people deeply connected to the earth and spirit. Their medicine, resilience, and wisdom continue to guide me.
I give thanks not only for my perseverance and refusal to give up, because even as a child I always knew who I was, but also to my family, my friends, my community, and the ancestors who walk beside me.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Like many people who own a business, I have faced struggles, especially with the administrative side of things and learning how to put myself out there. I am naturally a quiet person who deeply values alone time, so stepping into visibility and sharing my work publicly was challenging at first.
There were moments of self-doubt, exhaustion, and learning how to balance being both a healer and a business owner. But through those difficult times, I had a strong support system that encouraged me to keep going and believe in what I was building.
Another major challenge came when I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis only eight months into starting my business. That experience changed my life and added another layer of difficulty to an already vulnerable time. Navigating my health while trying to grow a business was not easy, but these healing practices became an important part of how I continued moving forward.
Reiki, sound healing, mindfulness, rest, and spiritual healing practices helped me reconnect to my body, regulate my nervous system, and continue living with purpose. I give a great deal of credit to this work and the healing modalities I practice, because they have supported me not only in serving others, but also in helping me continue to live, heal, and persevere through difficult seasons of my life.
Another important part of my journey has been ancestral healing. Learning more about the history of my ancestors and the struggles they endured was deeply eye-opening and emotional. It gave me a greater understanding of resilience, survival, and purpose. Their lives, sacrifices, and love are a big part of why I continue this work today. In many ways, I feel that honoring them is woven into everything I do through Mia Moon Creations.
As you know, we’re big fans of Mia Moon Creations . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My business is Mia Moon Creations, a wellness and healing practice where I offer a variety of energy healing services, including Reiki, shamanic healing, sound healing meditations, workshops, and trainings in Reiki and Andean shamanism.
For me, this business is more than a business. It is an expression of my soul path and the gifts I have been called to share with others. Through this work, I aim to empower people, bring healing, awareness, and guidance, and provide experiences that support them in creating the life they desire.
What makes this work so meaningful to me is that it feels timeless. Each session is not only addressing what someone is experiencing in the present moment, but also touching the past, future, and deeper energetic patterns connected to their journey. Every session is unique because we are meeting someone exactly where they are energetically while also helping clear the path for where they are meant to go.
A major part of what sets me apart is the ancestral connection woven into this work. Living on ancestral land and remaining in the same state where generations of my family lived, worked, healed, and survived has given me a much deeper connection to the earth and the medicine rooted within this land. In many ways, when I walk through certain places, I know I am walking where my ancestors once walked. That awareness gives me strength, encouragement, and a deep sense of purpose. Lineage, integrity, and honoring those who came before me are very important in the work that I do.
One of the things I am most proud of is my authenticity. Whether someone is with me during a healing session or meeting me outside of my work, I am the same person. I do not feel the need to wear a mask or separate myself from who I truly am. I share myself honestly and openly, and I believe people deeply resonate with that authenticity.
With my offerings, every session becomes a ceremony and an experience. Healing is not simply about relaxation. It is about creating space for transformation, clarity, release, and remembrance. In many ways, these sessions can feel like an initiation into a new version of yourself. The work helps shift stagnant energy so people can move forward with more alignment, intention, and connection to themselves.
At the same time, I always remind clients that the medicine already exists within them. Practitioners are not here to “fix” people. We are here to help people remember their own power, clear the path, and reconnect to themselves. But ultimately, they must choose to walk that path for themselves.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
To find mentors and build meaningful connections, I believe it is important to place yourself in spaces with like-minded people and individuals who have skills, wisdom, or experiences that can help support your path. Attending events, workshops, networking groups, and community gatherings can open doors to guidance, collaboration, and opportunities you may not expect.
It is also important to understand that mentorship is a relationship built on both receiving and giving. There must be mutual respect, openness, and a willingness to learn. Mentors often appear when you are truly ready for the lessons they are meant to teach, not when you try to force the connection. Sometimes the people who challenge you the most can become some of your greatest teachers.
For me, I have found many mentors through attending events, networking spaces, and simply remaining open to connection. Some mentors entered my life naturally through referrals and aligned opportunities. I truly believe that everyone you encounter has the potential to teach you something, and when you stay open, grounded, and intentional, you will be guided toward the right people at the right time.
