Hidden Gems: Meet Krystal Vernee’ of Simply SHE

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystal Vernee’.

Hi Krystal, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been an entrepreneur for over 20 years, but my journey didn’t start with a perfect plan, it started with vision, grit, and a deep desire to create something of my own.

At 16 years old, I launched my first business selling handbags on eBay. I didn’t know it then, but I was already studying branding, positioning, and customer psychology. That early experience sparked something in me, I realized I didn’t just want to work in someone else’s system. I wanted to build systems.

Years later, that entrepreneurial spirit led me to create Divas & Dolls Fitness, which began as a mobile dance and fitness company serving women across the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. What started as pop-up classes in rented spaces quickly grew into a full studio community. I saw how transformative movement could be , not just physically, but emotionally. Women weren’t just getting fit. They were reclaiming confidence, sensuality, and sisterhood.

Building the studio wasn’t always glamorous. There were financial risks, leadership lessons, team restructuring, and moments where I had to grow faster than the business itself. But every challenge refined me, not just as a business owner, but as a CEO.

As I scaled, I realized many founders, especially women , were incredibly talented but stuck in hustle mode. They had passion, but not infrastructure. That insight led me to expand into business consulting and launch Simply SHE, where I now serve as a Business Consultant and Fractional Chief Strategy Officer. I help founders evolve from overwhelmed operators into confident, systems-driven CEOs. My work focuses on eliminating bottlenecks, implementing scalable systems, strengthening revenue architecture, and integrating AI and automation for sustainable growth.

Today, I operate at the intersection of creativity and strategy. I lead a dance studio that empowers women through movement, and I advise CEOs on how to build scalable, infrastructure-driven companies. Both worlds may look different on the outside, but they share the same foundation: empowerment, ownership, and growth.

What I’m most proud of is that every chapter of my journey required reinvention — and I never stopped building. I’ve learned that entrepreneurship isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about having the courage to evolve.

And I’m still evolving.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, and I say that with gratitude.

Entrepreneurship looks glamorous from the outside, but behind the scenes there have been financial risks, growing pains, leadership challenges, and moments of deep self-reflection. In the early years of building Divas & Dolls Fitness, I was wearing every hat — instructor, marketer, administrator, cleaner, visionary. Like many founders, I built the business around my capacity instead of building systems around the business. That eventually led to burnout and bottlenecks.

Another major challenge was leadership. As the company grew, I had to learn the difference between being talented at what I do and being effective at leading others. Building a team requires clear expectations, boundaries, accountability, and culture protection. There were moments where I had to restructure, make difficult decisions, and redefine standards to protect the vision.

Cash flow fluctuations were also real, especially in a brick-and-mortar fitness business. Seasonality, economic shifts, and unexpected expenses teach you quickly that passion alone doesn’t sustain a company. Strategy does.

Personally, one of the biggest struggles was shifting my identity from “doer” to CEO. Letting go of control, delegating, and trusting systems instead of overworking myself was a mindset evolution. That transition shaped the consulting work I now do with other founders, helping them avoid the very bottlenecks I experienced.

Every struggle forced me to mature — financially, emotionally, and operationally. Looking back, the road wasn’t smooth, but it was formative. The obstacles refined my leadership and strengthened my resilience.

And truthfully, those lessons are what allow me to build stronger businesses today.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Simply SHE?
Simply SHE is a strategic consulting firm designed to help founders evolve into confident, infrastructure-driven CEOs. We specialize in helping entrepreneurs move from hustle-based growth to structured, scalable operations.

Many business owners are talented and passionate, but they’re operating without clear systems, scalable revenue architecture, or operational clarity. That’s where we come in. At Simply SHE, we focus on eliminating bottlenecks, strengthening leadership, implementing streamlined systems, integrating AI and automation, and building predictable income models. Our work bridges high-level strategy with real operational execution.

What sets us apart is that we don’t just teach theory, we assess the operational reality of a business. Through our diagnostics and consulting frameworks, we identify what’s breaking, what’s blocking growth, and what needs to be rebuilt for sustainable scale. We combine strategy, structure, and implementation so our clients can stop being the bottleneck inside their own companies.

We’re known for helping founders transition from being overextended operators to decisive CEOs. That identity shift is just as important as the systems we implement.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud that Simply SHE represents evolution. It’s about ownership. It’s about leadership maturity. It’s about building businesses that don’t collapse under growth. We empower entrepreneurs, especially women, to step fully into authority and build companies that create wealth, freedom, and long-term impact.

I want readers to know that scaling isn’t about doing more. It’s about building smarter. And Simply SHE exists to help founders do exactly that.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory is from when I was about two years old. My dad dressed up as Santa Claus and came through the front door with a present just for me. I was sitting in my high chair, and he walked over and placed the gift right in front of me. Even though I was so young, I remember every detail, the excitement, the warmth, the feeling that something magical was happening.

What makes that memory so special isn’t just the costume or the present, it’s the intention. My father created a moment. He made something ordinary feel extraordinary. That memory stayed with me.

Looking back, I realize that experience shaped me in ways I didn’t understand at the time. It taught me the power of creating meaningful experiences, something I now do in my businesses, whether it’s designing transformative environments for women or building intentional experiences for clients. That moment wasn’t just about Santa. It was about love, effort, and creating magic for someone you care about.
