Today we’d like to introduce you to Doyin Idowu-Jacobberger.
Hi Doyin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started as a 2025 bride who wasn’t able to explore as many design options as I would’ve liked during my wedding planning era due to different life circumstances. Despite that, I really enjoyed the design and planning process and wanted to have a way to continue designing and planning for different types of events. After happily marrying my husband, I wasn’t ready to fully part with all of our wedding decor and had a feeling that other brides may also appreciate the look of our florals. I’ve also always wanted to dabble in business ownership, so I decided to start small to see how things went. Over time, I was able to get a few clients, which motivated me to continue to pour into my business and offer more custom services to clients. While I still have a day job and do this as a side venture, I enjoy working with my clients and love bringing their different design visions to life for their special moments! I love aesthetics and social settings, so this turned into the perfect opportunity to continue designing with client-approved creative freedom.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road to starting my business was not easy, but it wasn’t terribly difficult either; it just took a while to really figure out what I wanted Lush Details to represent and who I wanted to serve. I have worked with people of different ages and backgrounds for over a decade professionally, so the customer service aspect has been very easy to navigate. The biggest struggle, as expected with being new to the rental space, is figuring out how to please clients while also having safeguards in place to account for unexpected issues on the day of, or days leading up to, an event. I believe that the best way to learn sometimes involves failing, and I’ve had my fair share of valuable learning moments over the past year. Lastly, as someone without marketing experience, staying consistent on social media to showcase my work and reach the target audience has been a fun yet rewarding challenge to tackle.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Lush Details Event Decor Rentals aims to bring a garden-party style flair to events of any kind in the DMV region of the United States. While most of our clients are Maryland-based, we also serve Northern Virginia and D.C. as well. Something that sets Lush Details apart from some other businesses is the sizing of our ground florals. We are known for full and lush faux floral ground arrangements and floral arches for the bride or client who wants to add a little extra floral flair to their event. We also offer customization options for some of our rentals so we can align with a good number of event themes. We also assist clients who rent with us with designing their event if they need extra support or guidance with making a cohesive final look.
I am most proud of the fact that Lush Details has only been around for about a year, but has grown to the point of getting decor-related inquiries for services beyond our faux floral aisle arrangements and arches! I’m also proud of the fact that multiple clients have trusted us to be a part of their special celebrations and moments. I love celebrating others, and as a business owner, I share that same enthusiasm and joy with every client that we have the privilege to serve.
