Today we’d like to introduce you to John Krueger.
Hi John, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m sure like many, my journey into fitness began as a high school athlete. Initially the goal was to get in better shape for my senior year, and eventually with the goal to play in college. I was fortunate enough to play my freshman year of college, where thanks to being a very small school in a rural area, led to a lot of down time to research and spend in the campus weight room. My first ‘coaching’ experience took place in that weight room, simply helping other students and teammates. They were the first people to suggest I look into becoming a trainer, and from there the seed was planted. Fast forward 11+ years later, 8+ as a gym owner; and I do not think I could have made a better decision,
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I do not think any journey we take in life is ever smooth, nor should it be. The biggest first hurdle, was believing in myself and later getting my closest support to believe in me, and my ability to make coaching a career and a life. From there it struggles every trainer/coach/entrepreneur deals with: sales, client psychology, self doubt, management, etc. The biggest hurdle we had to navigate, was roughly 18 months into business, COVID hit, and all that came with that.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are a private training facility, that specializes in small group and semi private training, as well as sports performance coaching. We offer a high level facility and coaching, in a local community setting. I would say what sets us apart is the experience our staff has, with everyone having worked with everyone from youth (under 10), senior citizens, high level athletes, and everyone in between. This experience allows us to have someone to help nearly every person who walks through our doors, no matter their goal or what is holding them back. I am probably most proud of both the community we have built and that continues to support us over the years, as well as the obstacles we have overcome and will continue to overcome. I would like anyone who reads this to know our brand is more than an individual, a logo, or a catch phrase; we are a place where everyone is welcomed into the community as a family/friend from day one; we have services for every level and schedule, and the experience to meet anyone where they are and guide them where they want to be; however at the same time, we are not for everyone.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I would say the most important qualities or characteristics of any successful person or business, is a combination of stubbornness or determination and self belief. The ability to believe that no matter what, one way or the other, things are going to work out as long as you keep going and don’t quit.
