Hi Hilda, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey has been one of growth, resilience, and partnership. Alongside my husband, I stepped into the auto body industry – a field that is traditionally very male-dominated. While it wasn’t the path I initially envisioned for myself, I quickly realized that my strengths in communication, organization, customer service, and relationship-building were exactly what the business needed.

In the beginning, I immersed myself in learning every aspect of the industry – from estimates and supplements to insurance processes, vendor relations, and customer care. I wanted to understand not just the front office, but the entire operation. Over time, I found my voice and my confidence in a space where women are often underrepresented.

Being a woman in this industry has not always been easy, but it has been empowering. I have focused on building trust with our customers, creating structured processes, and elevating the customer experience. Today, I am proud to co-lead a business that values integrity, transparency, and community.

What started as supporting my husband has evolved into building something together – a business rooted in hard work, faith, and service. Every challenge has strengthened me, and every success reminds me that there is room for women to lead and thrive in any industry.

Our journey hasn’t always been easy, but every challenge has strengthened our commitment to excellence and service. I’m proud of how far we’ve come and even more excited about where we’re headed.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like many family-owned businesses, we began with a dream, determination, and a deep desire to build something honest and lasting. The journey was not always easy. There were long nights, uncertain months, and moments when the pressure felt overwhelming.

Competing with larger shops, navigating complex insurance processes, managing unexpected expenses, and building trust in a highly competitive industry were all very real challenges. There were times when claim approvals were delayed, parts were backordered, and cash flow was tight. Each obstacle tested our resilience and commitment.

As business owners, we wore every hat – estimator, customer service representative, marketing manager, bookkeeper — sometimes all before lunchtime. It required sacrifice, patience, strategic decision-making, and unwavering faith.

What truly made the difference was having a strong team and a dedicated manager who shared our vision. Their commitment, work ethic, and belief in what we were building turned challenges into stepping stones.

A&H Auto Body Specialist Inc. is a family-owned and operated collision repair shop proudly serving the Silver Spring community and surrounding areas. We specialize in high-quality auto body repairs, insurance collision claims, frame and structural repairs, bumper and panel replacements, refinishing, and comprehensive claim support from start to finish. We work with all insurance companies and guide our customers through the entire repair process to make it as smooth and stress-free as possible.

What truly sets us apart is our commitment to personal service and integrity. We treat every customer like family. From the moment a vehicle arrives at our shop, we prioritize transparency, clear communication, and attention to detail. Our team takes pride in delivering repairs that meet industry standards while ensuring each vehicle leaves our facility looking and performing at its very best.

We are especially proud of the trust we have built within our community. Much of our business comes from referrals, repeat customers, and word-of-mouth recommendations – which speaks volumes about the relationships we have nurtured over the years.

My plans include refining our operational systems, strengthening our internal processes, and continuing to elevate the customer experience. I’m looking forward to increasing our marketing presence, building stronger insurance partnerships, and investing in updated equipment and ongoing technician training so we stay ahead in the industry.

One of my long-term goals is to expand our facility and possibly add additional service lines, while still maintaining the personalized, family-style customer service that truly sets us apart. Growth is important to me — but not at the expense of relationships. I want every customer to continue feeling like they are part of the A&H family.

Personally, I’m looking forward to continuing to grow as a leader, mentor, and business owner. I’m excited about creating more opportunities for my team, strengthening our community connections, and building something that my family can be proud of for generations to come.
