Today we’d like to introduce you to David Hercenberg.
Hi David, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
David Hercenberg is a digital media and marketing specialist with a passion for visual storytelling through photography and videography. As a Dean’s List student at Towson University, he produced an award-winning documentary in Poland and Berlin exploring the atrocities of World War II.
After graduating cum laude with a degree in Electronic Media and Film, he launched Documented Video Productions, LLC.
Twenty years later, David has created hundreds of videos and websites for nonprofits, schools, camps, families, and businesses throughout the country.
He is based in Baltimore, Maryland, where he lives with his two children.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road, which is expected when running your own business. There are daily challenges—from generating and following up on leads to scheduling conflicts, cancellations, and technical issues. Working with subcontractors or freelancers can also present occasional complications.
These obstacles are part of the growth process. Each one provides an opportunity to learn what works, improve the craft, and deliver higher-quality content. The goal is to work smarter, adapt continuously, and become better with every experience.
As you know, we’re big fans of Documented Video Productions, LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Life doesn’t happen in fast-forward.
It happens right here.
In the in-between moments.
The laughs you didn’t plan.
The looks that say everything.
The memories you don’t realize are memories yet.
Being present isn’t about perfection.
It’s about paying attention.
Because one day, today becomes the story you tell.
So pause.
Look up.
Stay in it.
We’ll handle the rest.
Document the moment.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
When visuals and audio come together to create a film that becomes a cherished family heirloom or a centerpiece at a corporate gala to raise awareness, it creates a true sense of success—a feeling of purpose, fulfillment, and lasting legacy.
