Exploring Life & Business with Bessie Stroman of Crown to Earth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bessie Stroman.

Hi Bessie , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my journey in skincare by creating handcrafted products before I was even a licensed esthetician. I was really interested in ingredients and how they interacted with the skin, and that curiosity is what pulled me deeper into this field.

As I became a licensed esthetician and began working with clients, I moved into corrective skincare and focused on helping people with specific concerns. Over time, I started to notice that while treatments and products can help, real results come from consistency and having a structure in place.

That realization is what shifted everything for me. My work gradually evolved into a more private and relationship based approach, where I am guiding clients over time instead of just seeing them for one appointment.

Now I operate as a licensed esthetician within a referral based model, and I focus on supporting my clients through long term care. Everything is adjusted as their skin changes, and the goal is to create a space where they feel supported and can actually maintain the results they are looking for.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a completely smooth road, but I think that’s part of building anything with intention. One of the biggest challenges for me was realizing that not every client is aligned with the level of care I wanted to provide.

In the beginning, I was more focused on offering services and getting clients in, but over time I learned that structure matters just as much as skill. I had to shift away from a more traditional approach and be honest about what kind of experience I wanted to create, even if that meant slowing things down and being more selective.

Another challenge was trusting my own direction as things started to evolve. Moving toward a more private, referral based model is not the most common path, so there were moments where I had to rely on my own vision instead of what I was seeing around me.

Looking back, those challenges helped me refine my approach and build something that feels more aligned. It taught me that growth is not always about doing more, but about becoming more intentional with what you choose to keep.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Crown to Earth ?
I am a licensed esthetician and I operate a private, mobile skincare practice called Crown to Earth. My work is centered around corrective skincare and long term skin health, but what really defines my business is the way care is structured.

Instead of focusing on one time appointments, I work with clients over time. I offer a more relationship based approach where I am guiding their skin through different phases and making adjustments as needed. Because my business is mobile, I am able to bring that experience directly to my clients in a more comfortable and private setting, which adds another layer to how the care is delivered.

I would say what sets me apart is that I am not focused on volume. I am intentional about who I work with and how I work with them. My model is referral based and designed to create consistency, which is something I feel is often missing in skincare. It allows me to be more present and detailed in the way I support each client.

I am known for taking a more thoughtful and realistic approach to skincare. I am not trying to rush results or push products. I focus on what actually works over time and helping clients understand their skin in a way that feels manageable and sustainable.

What I am most proud of is the way my brand has grown into something that feels aligned with how I truly want to work. It is more private, more intentional, and built around trust. I have created a space where clients feel taken care of, not just during an appointment, but throughout their entire skincare journey.

I want readers to know that my services are designed for people who are looking for that level of care and consistency. Whether they see me in person or work with me virtually, the goal is always the same. To support their skin in a way that feels structured, personalized, and long term.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
One thing I would say is to take your time and really understand what you want your business to look like long term. It is easy to get caught up in what everyone else is doing, especially in the beginning, but not everything you see will align with you.

When I was starting out, I spent a lot of time listening to other people tell me how I should run my business based on what they were seeing or doing. I made a lot of adjustments trying to follow that, and eventually I realized it was not aligned with me or how I wanted to work.

That was a turning point. I had to learn how to quiet the outside opinions and focus on what actually worked for me. It was not always easy, especially not knowing how people would respond to the changes I was making. I also had to accept that some clients who were used to my old structure might not like the new direction, but I knew I needed to stand on a system that felt sustainable and true to my work.

Over time, I learned that structure and clarity matter more than speed. It is not just about getting clients, it is about building something that you can maintain and grow into.

I also wish I understood earlier how important it is to be selective. Not every opportunity or every client is meant for you, and that is okay. The sooner you get clear on who you serve and how you want to work, the easier it becomes to move with confidence.

Lastly, trust your direction, even if it looks different from what you see around you. You do not have to follow the same path as everyone else to build something meaningful.
