Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Lieb.
Hi Alex, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
After high school, enlisted in the USAF but was cut short by pre existing condition after 4 months. Moved on to college at Pennsylvania State University, did some intern work in NYC at CBS and Nickelodeon then eventually found my way to the DMV. Kicked around in publishing, food sales then found my place in the mortgage niche.
I ended up joining the Knights of Columbus Rock Creek Council 2797 in the early 2000’s but didn’t get involved at all in any volunteer activities until I had an epiphany around 10 years ago and realized I needed to help in the community vs being just a member.
Since then, I’ve arranged monthly food drives at two of the local Giants with some outstanding team members at Council 2797 and we’ve conservatively collected over 300,000 worth of non perishable food items since then. Organizations we support: USASOA, Nourishing Bethesda, The Children’s Inn, St Martin’s Cloak and more.
The Council also holds family crab feasts, Cereal food drives, our annual Teachers Appreciation and donations to local charities
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been fun, organizing events and building volunteer teams. We’ve got a lot of great members plus wives, girlfriends and students who help out.
We’ve been impressed with Coastal Lending Group, LLC , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’ve been in the mortgage business since about 1997 and it’s been quite a learning journey, being a loan officer, loan officer assistant, manager and sometime processor.
I would say I would specialize in investment loans now in this market but am fluid in conventional loan, FHA and especially VA loans.
I’d like to think that I have a good rapport with clients and support teams and that I’m always quick to respond and resolve problems immediately.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I’m pretty conservative and consider myself a thinker so I just don’t jump into anything. I weigh the pros and cons before I get involved. It’s also important to bounce ideas off other people to make sure whatever scenario is being worked on is viable.
