Conversations with Tyne Mosby

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyne Mosby.

Hi Tyne, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Tyne Mosby, founder of Jamming Jammie LLC.
I am a From West Baltimore and lifelong creative. Long before I ever started a business, I was designing Barbie clothes, making my own outfits, and creating handmade bags as a little girl. Creativity has always been a part of me — I just didn’t know it would one day become my livelihood.
Jamming Jammie officially began in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. I started by making personalized name masks. What began as a way to create during uncertain times quickly grew into something much bigger. As demand increased, I expanded into custom apparel, hoodies, cups, pillows, key chings
T-shirts , party treats, and full Halloween costumes.
I am completely self-taught. Everything I know — from crafting techniques to branding, pricing, and marketing — I taught myself. The hardest part of my journey wasn’t creating, it was learning the business side. But I was determined to figure it out and turn my passion into something lasting.

In 2022, my business reached a major turning point when I designed a Baltimore-themed hoodie that went viral. Orders began pouring in from across the city and beyond. That moment confirmed that Jamming Jammie was not just a hobby — it was a brand with impact.

After working at Live Casino for 10½ years, I made the life-changing decision to bet on myself. Today, I continue to push and grow my business while also working full-time with the State of Maryland. Balancing entrepreneurship, career, and motherhood is not easy — but my children are my motivation every single day. They are the reason I keep building, keep creating, and keep striving for more.

Halloween is my favorite holiday, and every year I create my costumes completely from scratch. People actually wait to see what I’m going to design next. I’ve always loved doing what others aren’t doing — standing out instead of blending in. That same mindset drives my brand. I create pieces that are bold, personal, and unforgettable.

Today, Jamming Jammie represents resilience, creativity, faith, and determination. My journey from making name masks during a pandemic to building a recognized brand while working full-time and raising my children is proof that passion, consistency, and belief can turn a gift into a legacy.

As I often say, “I don’t create to fit in — I create to stand out. And that’s exactly how I built my business.”

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Balancing motherhood, working full-time with the State of Maryland, and building my business has also been a major challenge. There are long nights and early mornings. But my children are my motivation, so quitting has never been an option.
Another obstacle was self-doubt. Betting on yourself is scary, especially after working somewhere for over 10 years. But I had to trust my gift and trust that what I was building was bigger than fear.
Every challenge taught me something. Instead of letting obstacles stop me, I used them to grow.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m known for standing out. I don’t like to create what everyone else is already doing — I like to bring fresh ideas and designs that feel personal and different. My Baltimore hoodie that went viral in 2022 is one of my most recognized pieces, and it really showed me how powerful original creativity can be.
Everything I create is made with intention. I’m completely self-taught, so every skill I use is something I took the time to learn on my own. My work reflects who I am — bold, creative, and not afraid to be different.
For me, this isn’t just about selling products. It’s about turning imagination into something real and helping people wear or display something that truly represents them.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories was sitting down with fabric and turning it into Barbie clothes, outfits, and little handmade bags. I didn’t have instructions — just imagination. I remember feeling so proud seeing something I pictured in my mind come to life in my hands.
At the time, it was just fun. But now I realize that was the beginning of my purpose. Creating made me feel confident, different, and special. It was my escape and my happy place. That same feeling I had as a little girl is the same feeling I get now when I complete a custom piece for someone. It reminds me that this gift has always been inside of me.
