Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracy Yang.
Tracy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up in China and always liked traditional Chinese art, especially calligraphy and painting.
After moving to the U.S., I started sharing Chinese culture through face painting, calligraphy, and art at schools and community events.
What started as a hobby slowly became Mrs. Nie Art Studio.
I enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds and letting children experience Chinese art in a simple and fun way.
Today I still continue creating art and joining local community events. For me, art is a way to share culture and bring people together.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was not always easy.
English is not my first language, so sometimes communication was difficult in the beginning.
I also needed to balance family, children, and art together. Most events are on weekends, so it can be very busy and tiring.
Another challenge was that many people here were not familiar with Chinese calligraphy and traditional art at first. I slowly shared it through local events and community activities.
Little by little, more people started understanding and supporting my work.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I do Chinese calligraphy, ink painting, face painting, and cultural art for community events.
I especially enjoy sharing traditional Chinese art with children and families in a simple and fun way.
I think what makes my work different is combining traditional Chinese culture with modern community art.
I am most proud when children become interested in Chinese art for the first time after visiting my table or event.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can work with me through community events, schools, festivals, birthday parties, and cultural events.
I enjoy sharing Chinese calligraphy, painting, and face painting with children and families.
People can also support my work by sharing traditional Chinese art and culture with more people in the community.
