Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristie L. Farley.
Hi Kristie L., so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Voyager Baltimore
The beginning of my writing career started in first grade. My teacher loved my fantasy story I did for homework. She even wrote my parents a note. They were proud and it gave me a quiet confidence. From that point on, I started participating in different writing competitions and got used to being on stage. The awards were sweet to receive, however writing short stories, poetry and essays gave me a voice that was muffled at home. Living during the time my friends and I had to write letters instead of texting which came later. They could appreciate how I expressed myself and at age eleven, I knew this was one of my lifetime gifts.
In second grade, my parents bought me a Kiss guitar and I got to learn on my own to play it. See, I have always had a love and respect for music. My parents played different genres and when my dad took us many weekends to his birth place in Brooklyn, New York, I payed attention adoringly to the DJs and musicians. This propelled me to start playing clarinet in fifth grade. My friends playing other instruments gave me a chance to try playing theirs and I learned quickly in ninth grade which ones were right for me.
I admired models and looked up to my cousin Michelle, who was one in New York. I practiced as often as I could by walking with a book on my head up and down our hallway at home. My crux was walking in heels. My eldest sister Francesca let me borrow her pumps for school when I was in sixth grade. I made it to the end of the day until my foot slipped and I fell down a flight of stairs. As I laid on my back in shock and embarrassment, I knew I wasn’t ready to wear them outside of home.
These are the memories that kept me hanging on although I admit I broke into pieces under the weight of life after twenty years. As I understood how to rebuild my life and not lose myself again, a childhood friend Beth Remines helped me publish my first book on Amazon. “Beauty’s Grace Group Book Of Poetry And Journal” went international and that was the beginning of me stepping back into my passion to write again.
My friend and brother Wiccid Lo believed I could do Spoken Word when I mentioned it. Needless to say, he and The Zipper produced my first album featuring Haze, Yung Nati Chyk entitled, “Loving Thy Temple.” Now my love for music and words are flowing. Wiccid Lo made me the official Spoken Word Artist in his business 2TemptedEnt amongst great independent hip hop lyricists that were younger than me. I have done eighty tracks in the past few years.
I’ve been blessed to be in two other anthologies by Sabrina Thomas. They are called “Girl, You Can’t Give Up Now,” and “Breaking The Mold.” Both made it on the Amazon’s Best Selling List, “Breaking The Mold,” made number one. That led to working with my publisher, House Of Void Press called “Two Sides Of A Coin” and a “Mental Wealth Anthology” with seven co-authors and a journal on the way. Now I am working on another book with two co-workers.
I opened my business KLF Writes LLC (as an author) this year and have two radio shows entitled “Fire Barz Radio” and “Sit With Me” on WIDM-DB In Da Mix Radio. I’m happy to bring back “Journey And Gems With Farley And Friends,” podcast with my business partner and co-host Brian Whitcomb.
It’s not about trying to get the life I wanted to live back. It’s about having the willingness and willpower to start over at my age. Through deaths, disappointments, endless advocacy for my daughter with autism, survivor of domestic violence, in remission from lung cancer with health problems and pain, I’m here and loving every minute of it. I have future plans that I can see clearly and hope everyone reading this can be inspired and see your future starts today.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Nothing in my life was smooth or without a struggle. One major transition was being an orphan at age fifteen. Both my parents passed away two years apart from cancer. I had an opportunity to start my career at eighteen but was made to fill guilty by my sisters if I left them behind.
My second transition was having to give up my writing and working career to keep my kids together. My eldest daughter Beauty has Autism with Pervasive Developmental Disorder with behavioral issues. My advocacy for her took me on the dark side of humans. Slowly I ended up disabled that put limitations on my opportunities.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My comeback was in 2021 as a poet and author. I started writing and recording my Spoken Word in 2022. Wiccid Lo and The Zipper produced my first album, “Loving Thy Temple,” in 2023 featuring Haze, Yung Nati Chyk. All of my eighty tracks are now available for purchase or streaming on Apple, Spotify, iTunes, Pandora, Amazon Prime Music, YouTube channels (Kristie BossUpBlueMamba Farley and Kristie L Farley) and other streaming services.
I began doing podcasts on other people’s programs in 2024. By June, 2025, I created “Journey And Gems With Farley And Friends, podcast on Stream yard and November 3rd, 2026, it’s on the radio.
This year I decided it was time to open my business, KLF Writes LLC, as a professional author. I took the leap of faith and chose House Of Void Press as my publisher.
Plus I set out to become a radio personality for my two radio shows entitled”Fire Barz Radio,” every Saturday at 8pm EST and”Sit With Me,” every Sunday at 7pm EST only on”WIDM-DB In Da Mix Radio.”
In the past few years, I wrote an article for Huffington Post Online and made appearances in magazines like Voyager Baltimore, Bold Journey, Professional Pulse Magazine, Vero G magazine and Twisted Magazine.
I’m most proud that I’m here. A place that I thought forgot about me over time. Being an international and made it Amazon Best Selling list and being number one author, thanks to my friend Sabrina Thomas’s two anthologies, “Girl Don’t Count Yourself Out/You Can’t Give Up Now and Breaking The Mold,” solidifying that I do have what it takes to shine.
I believe I am set apart from others because of my versatility in writing styles, beat making and producing an album and some single tracks. I love to learn, collaborate with other writers and artists from different genres plus expanding into ghost writing and novelist.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I’m a survivor of sexual abuse as a child, domestic violence in my adult years, as well as in remission from lung cancer.
