Conversations with Dawyn Majett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dawyn Majett.

Hi Dawyn, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I began my journey in permanent makeup (PMU) about four years ago, driven by a passion to enhance natural beauty and help others feel more confident in themselves. While I have spent much of my professional life as a mental health therapist, I reached a point where I was ready for a new chapter, one that allowed me to work more creatively and with my hands. Even through that transition, my purpose remained the same: to uplift, empower, and support women in feeling their absolute best.

Today, I specialize in Nano brows, Ombre brows, and Combination brows, offering customized services that complement each client’s unique features. I have also expanded my work into lip neutralization and areola tattooing, providing restorative services for women who have undergone breast cancer and reconstruction. This work is deeply meaningful to me, as it blends artistry with healing, allowing me to continue making a positive impact while helping women reclaim their confidence and sense of self.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Along my journey, I faced several challenges that pushed me to grow both as an artist and a professional. In the beginning, I struggled to fully understand the balance between the science and artistry behind creating beautiful brows. Mastering color theory was a major hurdle, as selecting the correct pigment for different skin tones is critical to achieving natural, long lasting results. I also learned that needle size and needle depth play a significant role in how pigment is implanted, which directly impacts healing and overall outcomes. These technical aspects were not easy to grasp at first, but I knew how important they were in delivering safe, high-quality work.

Because I take my clients’ appearance and confidence seriously, I refused to settle for anything less than excellence. I invested in additional trainings and continued education until I truly felt confident in my skills. Beyond technique, I also struggled with marketing and building my brand. I realized that having talent alone wasn’t enough to grow a successful business, so I made another investment, hiring a marketing manager and a content creator to help me elevate my presence. That decision made a huge difference. Through persistence, education, and the right support, I’ve been able to overcome those obstacles, and today, I’m proud to say that I’m doing exceptionally well.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Permanent Makeup (PMU) artist specializing in Nano brows, Ombre brows, and Combination brows, with additional expertise in lip neutralization and areola tattooing. My work focuses on enhancing natural beauty while restoring confidence, especially for women who have experienced hair loss, skin challenges, or breast reconstruction. I’m known for creating soft, natural-looking results that are customized to each client’s features, skin type, and lifestyle. My background as a mental health therapist also allows me to approach every service with care, empathy, and a deep understanding of how closely beauty and confidence are connected.

What I’m most proud of is my commitment to doing things the right way, even when it meant slowing down and investing more into my education. I took the time to truly understand the science behind PMU, from color theory to needle selection and technique, because I never wanted to compromise someone’s appearance or confidence. What sets me apart is not just my attention to detail and continued training, but the intention behind my work. I don’t just provide a service, I create an experience that makes my clients feel seen, comfortable, and empowered, and that’s something I carry into every appointment.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned throughout my journey is that mastery takes intention, patience, and a willingness to invest in yourself. Talent alone isn’t enough, especially in a field like PMU where both science and artistry have to align. I had to slow down, truly understand color theory, technique, and the tools I was using, and commit to continuous learning to get it right. That experience taught me that doing things the right way will always be more valuable than rushing the process.

I also learned that growth doesn’t just happen in your craft, it happens in your mindset and your business as well. Asking for help, whether through additional training or bringing on a marketing team, was a turning point for me. It showed me that you don’t have to do everything alone to be successful. When you stay committed to your purpose, remain teachable, and prioritize quality over shortcuts, everything begins to align.
