Today we’d like to introduce you to Damon Modarres.
Hi Damon, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
If I’m honest, I almost stumbled into music on accident! I had originally planned on pursuing a career in soccer but it became clear to me relatively that this was a path that wasn’t quite going to work out for me. However, during high school another path opened up when I started making friends with musicians and one of my friends (who became like a brother to me) highlighted the fact that I can sing based off me humming to a song he was recording one day. He asked me to record “just for fun” but that became the first of countless times I ended up behind a microphone. I fell more and more deeply in love with the process of music-making and the emotion it can emit, which has been foundational for the world I’m currently building.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s almost never going to be smooth. Whether it’s my lack of experience compared to other musicians, lack of finances, or the mental fatigue that can come with the giant speed bumps that comes in the journey, everyday can be considered a struggle. That being said, there is a beauty to being able to get past whatever challenges come your way.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a singer, song-writer, and producer so I have the ability to create a song in any way. My specialty is R&B and pop music, however I would consider myself quite versatile and mainly prioritize the good of the song over trying to fit within a certain sound. I am most proud of my ability to execute a vision I have for a song and truly bring them to life. My journey as well as my cultural background and how I integrate both into my music is what has provided me with a unique identity.
What does success mean to you?
I define success as having a life you can be proud of and having relationships that are life-long and everlasting.
