Conversations with Becs Blough

Today we’d like to introduce you to Becs Blough.

Hi Becs, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Well, i started to try to crochet back in elementary school but i could not get the hang of it. Fast forward to when im about 18ish and i wanted to give it another whirl because crochet is like witchcraft lol. I started off with headbands, scarfs and hats. A goal of mine was to sell my creations to strangers and share the art. About a couple years ago i really got back into crocheting daily and i got hooked on making granny squares, they are my go to with any blanket. I started to make purses, blankets, ear warmers and hats with granny squares, anything. In 2024 i wanted to get back out in the community and i saw that Wyrd was having a crochet & lattes on a Sunday and i was so stoked! The very first day i met the owner, she believed in me and we connected. She asked if i could make a mug cozy with a flower on it and i came back about a week or so later and showed her and she loved it! With the thanks to her, i get to share my art with strangers and so much inspiration has come back to me.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth? Nah, there were plenty of times where i wanted to give up because it didnt seem like my crocheted items were good enough. But i had my mom, my sister and my 2 besties always cheering me on, no matter what i made, they were in awe and so impressed and proud.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As of right now, I’m just doing my crocheting business. But a goal of mine is to become a Doula. The thought of helping bring life into this world is just magical.
With crocheting, I’m pretty proud to be selling my stuff in an actual store. It shows me that my work is great and others want to share it also.

What matters most to you?
My mom. Hands down my mom matters the most to me. No matter what i want to do, she always believes in me. She has dropped everything in her day to come to be with me. She moves mountains for anybody who needs help. She is my best friend and i couldn’t be more thankful for her constant support.
