Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Reeves.
Hi Amanda, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always found humans beautiful and complicated. Every single one has a story to tell. My passion for photography comes from my love of people and wanting to immortalize their moments and stories. I have always been interested in the medium for my own needs, but after realizing my talent, I wanted to provide a service for my community that made the art accessible and worthwhile. I strive to connect with my clients on a deeper level to provide them with amazing memories to cherish for years to come. I work to capture the milestones as well as the quiet in betweens.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Photography isn’t always sunshine and smiles. I think the hardest challenges I’ve faced come from life itself, especially knowing that life happens and nothing can stop time. The hardest lesson it’s taught me is that life is not only fleeting but sometimes painfully sad. Some of my clients have been my clients for years. I’ve seen families grow and some crumble. I have seen the happy times and I have helped document the hard ones. I have celebrated milestones with some and captured loss for others. This job can be an emotional rollercoaster but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a photographer, I hold space for joy, grief, beginnings and ends and translate these feelings into images. I create evidence of love, I catch time slipping by and I preserve the moments people don’t even know they will miss later down the line. I’m proud of the client base I have built on kindness and humanity. My clients know they will receive a collection of quality photos that are always artful and intentional. They can expect to feel the memory rather than just looking upon it. This is what has set me apart.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the diversity of where we live and love. As I said, every single person has a story. And I’m here to listen to as many of them as I can.
