Community Highlights: Meet Sumble Bashir of Little Angels Daycare

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sumble Bashir.

Hi Sumble, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey began as a mother of three who wanted to be present for my children while also helping support my family financially. To create that balance, I started a home daycare, and what started as a practical solution quickly grew into a career I truly love. My passion for working with children was also influenced by my educational background. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology because I have always been curious about human behavior and wanted to better understand how people think, learn, and interact with the world around them.

Caring for children and watching them learn and grow sparked a deep interest in early childhood development and the power of learning through play. My background in psychology has given me valuable insight into child development, behavior, and emotional well-being, which complements my hands-on experience as a childcare provider. During this time, I have built strong relationships with the children in my care, which helps support their emotional development and creates a nurturing environment where they feel safe, valued, and understood. As a mother of three, I can easily recognize and understand a child’s needs, whether they are physical or emotional, allowing me to provide the care and support each child needs to thrive.
Spending my days with children inspired me to explore toys, activities, and experiences that encourage creativity, problem-solving, and imagination. I found that simple, open-ended materials like building blocks, magnetic tiles, art supplies, and sensory play often create the most meaningful learning opportunities. Seeing firsthand how much early experiences influence a child’s development, combined with my understanding of psychology, strengthened my desire to make a positive difference during these important years.
As my passion grew, I created a social media platform to share daycare ideas, educational activities, parenting tips, and recommendations for toys and resources that support children’s growth. My goal is to help parents, caregivers, and childcare providers create fun, engaging learning experiences that build confidence, curiosity, and important life skills.
Today, I continue to run my daycare while growing an online community focused on learning through play. I love connecting with families and fellow childcare providers, sharing practical ideas, and encouraging children to explore, create, and learn with joy.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road. Like many small business owners and parents, I’ve faced my share of challenges along the way.

One of the biggest struggles has been balancing the many roles I carry every day. As a mom of three, a daycare provider, and an entrepreneur, there is a constant mental load that comes with managing schedules, caring for children, communicating with families, planning activities, running a business, and making sure everyone’s needs are met. Often, even when the workday ends, my mind is still thinking about what needs to be done next.

Building a daycare and an online platform at the same time has also come with a steep learning curve. While I had the passion and experience working with children, I had to learn many new skills related to entrepreneurship, marketing, websites, and content creation. There were moments when I questioned myself and wondered if I was doing enough, especially while trying to balance family life and work responsibilities.

Another challenge has been navigating the uncertainty that comes with owning a small business. There are always unexpected situations, changing needs, and decisions that need to be made. I’ve learned that flexibility and resilience are essential.

While the journey hasn’t always been easy, every challenge has taught me valuable lessons in patience, adaptability, and perseverance. There were moments when I felt overwhelmed, but those experiences helped me grow in ways I never expected. Most importantly, they strengthened my commitment to creating a nurturing environment for children and supporting the families who trust me with their care. Looking back, I’m grateful for the lessons each obstacle brought, because they have shaped me into the person, mother, and business owner I am today.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Little Angels Daycare was created from my love for children and my desire to provide families with a place where their children feel safe, loved, and excited to learn. As a mom of three, I understand how important it is for parents to know their children are being cared for in a nurturing environment, and I treat every child in my care as if they were my own.

At Little Angels Daycare, I focus on learning through play. I love creating activities that spark curiosity, creativity, and imagination while helping children build confidence and important life skills. Every child learns differently, so I take the time to understand their individual needs, strengths, and personalities.

I also founded SumbleB, where I share educational toys, activities, and resources that I have discovered through my experience as a daycare provider and parent. Many of the products and ideas I recommend are things I have personally used and seen benefit children firsthand.

What makes my work special is that it comes from both professional knowledge and real-life experience. My background in psychology helps me understand child development, but it is my daily interactions with children and families that truly shape what I do.

The thing I am most proud of is the relationships I have built with families over the years. There is no greater compliment than when parents trust me with their children and when I get to watch those children grow, learn, and reach new milestones. At the heart of both Little Angels Daycare and SumbleB is a simple mission: to help children thrive and support families in any way I can.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
If I could give one piece of advice, it would be to make sure you have a strong purpose behind what you’re doing, especially if you want to work with children. This field isn’t easy. It requires patience, dedication, and a genuine love for kids and their development.

My purpose was very personal. When I started the process of opening my licensed daycare, I was pregnant with my youngest daughter. I worked on getting my daycare license throughout my third trimester and continued after she was born. By the time she was about four months old, I was ready to open. My goal was to create a career that would allow me to stay home with my children while also supporting my family and helping other families.

I think it’s especially important to have a purpose if you want to work with children. This field isn’t easy. It requires patience, dedication, and a genuine love for children and their development. There are long days, challenges, and a constant mental load that comes with caring for others. When you have a strong “why,” it becomes easier to work through those difficult moments because you know what you’re working toward.

I also wish I had known that it’s okay not to do everything perfectly. Over time, I’ve learned that progress is more important than perfection. Learning to give myself grace, celebrate small wins, and trust the process has been just as important as any business skill.

Most importantly, don’t compare your beginning to someone else’s middle. Everyone’s journey is different. Stay focused on your purpose, be patient with yourself, and keep showing up. If you’re working with children, take the time to truly understand them. Every child is unique, and the more patient, understanding, and present you are, the greater impact you’ll have. In the end, watching children grow, learn, and gain confidence is what makes all the hard work worthwhile.
