Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Forrest.
Hi Jordan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Crackshack bbq started after I cooked for my daughter’s first birthday party. Everyone asked where I bought the food and I explained how I cooked it all my self. My cousin Maddison said she would pay me to cook for her son’s first birthday party. After further thought I posted a feeeler post on Facebook to see how it would turn out. That began in 2023. For the next year and a half I sold food out of my house until I stumbled crossed a food trailer that was completely empty on Facebook market place. The guy wanted to sell quickly so I gathered the funds to get the trailer with absolutely no idea how much it was going to cost to finish it out. That was February 2025. Talked with my wife and made the decision to put every last dollar we had saved into getting it ready for opening we ended up getting inspected the second week of July and our official opening date was July 26,2025. We opened up a local produce stand in Broomes island Maryland. Owned by Jake Sunderland. It’s called Jake’s produce. He pushed me for a long time to open and everytime I would see him he’d ask about it. I am very thankful that Jake’s is my home base and got me started.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I thought this whole thing was gonna be a breeze. I was very wrong. Between time crunches, store runs, learning that things in the fridge do not stay put on the way to an event and I open the trailer and potato salad is spread all over the floor. Had a fire MIshap that luckily caused no damage, stove flipped over once, tired have blown out. But well worth it
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Crack shack bbq LLC?
Honestly not sure how to answer this, we specialize in the normal bbq meats, I’d say I am most proud of how many people enjoy our food. I started crack shack as a joke from an inside joke my friends made up when I was younger. They always said my house looked like a crack shack so crackshack bbq was fitting. Getting nominated for top 5 bbq and top 5 food truck trying to win #1 in southern Maryland had been in insane accomplishment. When I’m out with family and friends people will recognize me. And I truly never thought it would be as big as it is and am happy for the future
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I always say I have bad luck. If it can go wrong it absolutely will. Whether a flame up occurs and ruins some food when I’m already behind schedule. Or get halfway through cooking and forget an ingredient. At the end of the day if I didn’t have bad luck I would have no luck at all LOL
