Community Highlights: Meet Chelsea Glover Jordan of 3 Roads

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Glover Jordan.

Hi Chelsea, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey into this work was deeply personal and, in many ways, unexpected. I never initially envisioned myself as a mother, but in 2009 I was faced with that decision and chose to move forward with pregnancy. I believed I could navigate motherhood on my own, but I quickly learned how complex and overwhelming that transition could be. In the years that followed, I struggled silently with what I now understand to have been postpartum depression. At the time, I didn’t have the language for it, nor did I feel permission to ask for help or acknowledge that I was struggling.

Over time, that experience became a turning point. As I began to seek support and better understand my own mental health, I felt called into the mental health space, particularly to support Black women who, like me, may not always have the words or frameworks to describe what they are experiencing after becoming mothers. My work deepened as I began exploring my own relationship with my mother and recognizing how those dynamics shaped my approach to parenting. I saw clear patterns and connections that are often unspoken in our communities.

That realization became my passion: helping women connect those dots for themselves with compassion, clarity, and intention. I began with a solo practice, which has since grown into a group practice made up of Black women clinicians who specialize in maternal mental health, allowing us to expand both our reach and impact within the community.

This work ultimately led me to create 3 Roads in 2020, a holistic mental health space centered on the integration of mind, body, and spirit. Through this practice, we support women in unpacking identity, navigating breakdowns, and rebuilding in alignment with their authentic selves and personal evolution.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It depends on what part of the journey you’re referring to, but overall, it has not been a smooth road. Both my experience with motherhood and my relationship with my own mother have deeply shaped not only who I am, but how I show up in my work and how I “see” and support my clients.

Becoming a mother required me to build an identity I didn’t initially feel prepared for, while also doing the ongoing work of repairing and redefining my relationship with my own mother. That process, rooted in healing, improving quality of life, and working toward forgiveness, has been challenging and, at times, uncomfortable. It has also been incredibly eye-opening. I’ve come to understand that many mothers are simply doing the best they can with what they have. There is no handbook, and perfection is not the goal. Extending grace, while also seeking clarity and accountability where needed, has been an important part of that journey.

Building my practice brought its own set of challenges. I truly started from the ground up and wore every hat, developing systems, managing billing, building a presence, securing resources, and cultivating a client base. It required a significant amount of trial, error, and self-teaching. Burnout was not unfamiliar to me during that time. Over time, I learned the importance of outsourcing and delegating so that I could sustain both myself and the work I was building.

In many ways, my practice reflects my experience of motherhood. Just like my child, 3 Roads is something I have birthed, nurtured, and grown with intention. It is deeply personal, and it exists to create space for others to feel seen, understood, and supported in ways that I once needed myself.

As you know, we’re big fans of 3 Roads. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
3 Roads is a holistic mental health and wellness practice that centers Black women who are seeking healing, particularly those navigating identity beyond motherhood and beyond trauma. At its core, our work is about helping women reconnect with themselves in a way that feels grounded, intentional, and sustainable.

We provide therapeutic support that prioritizes peace, clarity, and overall mental and emotional well-being. While traditional mental health models often focus solely on talk therapy, what sets 3 Roads apart is our emphasis on the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit. We believe healing is not one-dimensional, and our approach reflects that. In addition to clinical talk therapy, we integrate mindfulness-based practices such as meditation, yoga, and sound healing to support a more comprehensive and embodied healing experience.

We specialize in maternal mental health, supporting women who are navigating anxiety, depression, identity shifts, and feelings such as guilt or overwhelm that can arise throughout the motherhood journey. Our work creates space for women to explore not only their roles as mothers, but who they are outside of those roles.

A key component of our practice is education and empowerment. Through workshops, resources, and intentional conversations, we equip our clients with tools and knowledge around maternal mental health, helping them better understand their experiences and develop sustainable coping strategies.

What I am most proud of, from a brand perspective, is that 3 Roads has grown into a space that feels both clinically sound and culturally attuned. We have built a group practice of Black women clinicians who specialize in maternal health, which allows us to provide care that is not only skilled, but deeply affirming and reflective of the communities we serve.

Ultimately, I want readers to know that 3 Roads is more than a therapy practice. it is a space for restoration, identity exploration, and intentional growth. It is a place where women can feel seen, supported, and empowered to heal in a way that honors their full, authentic selves.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is self-actualization, for myself and for the women I serve, especially in how we define and experience motherhood. I believe motherhood should not come at the expense of losing oneself, but rather can be an opportunity to deepen self-awareness and align more fully with who you truly are.

For many women, particularly Black women, motherhood is often shaped by expectation, survival, and unprocessed experiences rather than intention. What drives me is creating space for women to reimagine that narrative, to move beyond simply functioning and toward living in alignment with their own values, desires, and vision of what motherhood can look like for them.

This matters to me because I’ve lived the opposite. I understand what it feels like to navigate motherhood without clarity, support, or a sense of self. Self-actualization is not just about personal growth, it’s about freedom, choice, and the ability to show up fully in your life and your relationships.

That intention extends beyond my clinical work into my writing as well. My memoir, Breed Life, Breathe Love, and my guided journal, Maternal Musings, were both created as reflective tools for women to process their experiences, explore their identities, and move toward healing in a more personal and accessible way.

Through all of my work, I aim to support women in getting there, intentionally, authentically, and without losing themselves in the process.
