Community Highlights: Meet Ashli McCoy of She Rich Digital

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashli McCoy.

Hi Ashli, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m Ashli McCoy, founder of She Rich Digital, a marketing and multimedia creative agency in Baltimore, Maryland. I work with women-founded businesses across the DMV.

My first business was an online boutique called AVM Fashion. The first year I made about $300. Shopify cost me more than the store brought in. I was reselling clothes with no brand and no community, and somebody cheaper was already doing the same thing.

Year two, I stopped selling to everybody. I rebuilt it as a 2000s punk-rock emo brand for people who grew up feeling like outcasts. I raised my prices and built community around the culture. Sales went from about $300 to about $14K.

I didn’t work harder that second year. I figured out which part was broken and rebuilt that part. Other women business owners started asking me how I did it, and in 2021 that became She Rich Digital.

Today She Rich Digital is a marketing and multimedia creative agency for women founders, service-based businesses, e-commerce brands, and event hosts in Baltimore, Washington DC, and the DMV.

Our services include social media marketing strategy, ads, website design and management, business photography and videography, and photo booth rentals, to name a few. Most content documents what already happened. Ours is built to sell what’s coming next.

I also host The Pink Social Mixer, a women’s networking event for women entrepreneurs and creatives building in the creative industry. There’s a panel, vendors, media coverage, and networking. The next one It’s Friday, November 6th at 6 PM at Opticon in Highlandtown. Tickets and details are at thepinksocialmixer.com.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No. Not even close.

I started my first online boutique in 2018 with no money. I made sales, and I also made debt, because I didn’t understand cash flow or profit margins. I didn’t know revenue and income were two different numbers.

By 2019 I hit my first multi-five-figure year and thought I had it figured out. I had no systems, no savings, and no plan for a slow month. That same year I got married and got pregnant with my second child, and everything slowed down.

In 2020 I moved into websites, branding, and marketing services then added content creation, and a few other services in 2021 that work became She Rich Digital. Money came in consistently. It also went right back out. Bills, emergencies, other people’s needs. I was earning and never getting ahead. At my lowest point, my income dropped from $1,900+ a month to $50.

In 2023 I lost my home, and I didn’t tell anybody. I was helping other business owners with their marketing and branding, and I couldn’t keep my own house. I thought if people found out, they’d call me a fraud and stop hiring me. So I hid it and kept working.

In 2024, I left my marriage. Then, in 2025 I rebuilt She Rich Digital with real systems, got back to consistent months, and hired my first team member.

I always knew how to make money. I didn’t know how to hold it or grow it, so I kept starting over. That is the gap I look for now in every business She Rich Digital works with. I wrote about all of it in The Mind Reset and Triggered, the first two books in my Return to Her series, available at www.therealashlimccoy.com .

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about She Rich Digital?
She Rich Digital is a marketing and multimedia creative agency based in Baltimore, serving women-founded businesses across Maryland, Washington DC, and the DMV. Our tagline is “Where Founders Stop Rebuilding.”

We specialize in marketing that sells what’s coming next. Most business owners already have plenty of content. Photos from the last event, footage from the last launch, a flyer, some reposted stories. All of it shows what already happened. None of it was built to make a stranger buy.

That’s what we’re known for fixing. A lot of our clients can sell out from their own phone, because the people who already know them buy. That holds until they want a bigger room, a new city, or a higher price. At that point the marketing has to make the case to somebody who has never heard of them.

What sets us apart is the order we work in. First we find what’s capping the business. Then we plan around what a buyer has to see, understand, and believe before paying. Then we shoot it. The website gets built from that same shoot, so the site and the social media match. Posts go out in an order that leads to a sale. Ads come last, and only on something that’s already selling.

Most owners hire a photographer, a videographer, a designer, and a social media manager separately. Everybody delivers their piece, and nobody is responsible for whether it sells. At She Rich Digital, the same team that builds the strategy shoots it and edits it.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of two things. She Rich Digital has served more than 100+ clients and built a community of more than 30,000 women since (She Rich Digital — Group on Facebook). And we tell founders the truth about what’s wrong in the business, even when it isn’t what they hoped to hear.

If your business is bigger than your page makes it look, that’s the gap we close. Start at www.sherichdigital.com.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Discernment. I thank God for discernment.

I see patterns fast. Give me a business owner’s page, her offer, and ten minutes of conversation, and I can usually tell her why sales stopped where they did.

That’s why She Rich Digital works the way it does. Anybody can take a good photo or post consistently. The value is in knowing what to shoot, what to say, and what order to put it in for that specific business. I don’t guess, and I don’t copy what worked for somebody else.

It also guides how I run my own company. I can tell early whether a client, a partnership, or an opportunity fits where I’m going, and I move on that not excitement.
