Today we’d like to introduce you to Ms.Icon.
Hi Ms.Icon, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have always been creative. Art has never been something I felt I had to try at, it is my escape. I started writing raps in 2023, just for fun. As time went on I realized that I was actually reallygood at it so, I started writing my own songs. That same year I attented the undergraduate program at SCAD Atlanta and there I signed up to perform at a talent show. I had this strong desire to be on stage. I often blame it on growing up doing competitive dance, I feel that gave me the comfortability that I have with being on stage. After that SCAD talent show, I knew that desire wasn’t just a daydream, it was my calling. I spent the next 2 years puishing my pen and perfecting my craft. 2025, I started secretly posting rap videos on my YouTube. Then April 2026, I dropped my first single and it’s only up from here.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have struggled a lot with self doubt, I mention before secretly posting rap videos to YouTube. That was because I was afraid of what people I knew would think so, I never fully promoted them properly. Also waiting for “the perfect time” this led to a lot of self-sabotage and perfectionism.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am best known as a rapper and fashion deisgner/ stylist. I gained a large following opf over 300k across platforms doing fashion and makeup videos in high school Although now my main focus is rap, I also dance, design clothes, sew, edit, sfx makeup, and paint. I am most proud of my ability to overcome anything that holds me back. I was able to overcome my fear of what the people close to me would think of my work and I now share my art with no fear. I feel we are in a time period of quantity over quality and a lot of artists, especially music artist are just trying to go viral with a tiktok song. The quality of music is depleting and of course so are all of the other components like music videos and live performances. I pride myself noit only on pushing my pen and my sound but my visuals being out of the box and my live performances being unforgettable.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I feel because of the depeletion of quality in the music right now as well as, the industry itself not really supporting the artists within. The labels are not pushing artists the way they used to and honestly artists don’t even really need labels anymore, we are able to grow our own business through social media. I think that there will be a masive shift and our next wave of true superstars and legends will breathrough. The people will and already getting tired of everything sounding and looking the same. The artists that are constantly pushing the envelope and that people may overlook or not understand now, will push through and be the next pioneers in music. I also feel there will either be a downfall for the labels, more independent artist or the labels will realize these terrible deals are not cutting it anymore and they will adjust the way they operate to better support artists.
