Today we’d like to introduce you to Flow 9inety.
Hi Flow, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started making music out of a real love for hip-hop and storytelling. Artists like Kendrick Lamar, Benny the Butcher, Common, Q-Tip, J. Cole, and Anderson. Paak really shaped how I think about music from lyrical depth and honesty to groove, soul, and authenticity. Early on, I focused on writing and finding my own voice rather than chasing trends.
Over time, I started taking it more seriously releasing music, refining my sound, and learning what works for me as an artist. Where I’m at now feels like a natural evolution of those influences mixed with my own experiences. I’m focused on growth, consistency, and building something meaningful that lasts.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
“It hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges was learning to protect my creative identity. I was with a label for a while, and while I learned a lot, their vision for how I should look and sound didn’t fully align with who I am as an artist. Stepping away wasn’t easy, but it helped me get clearer about my voice and what I want to build.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a recording artist who goes by Flow 9inety. I make conscious, real-life rap music that reflects growth, pressure, fatherhood, and lessons learned. My focus is on substance, clean flow, and bars that actually mean something.
I’m known for my calm, intentional delivery and storytelling that comes from lived experience, not trends. What I’m most proud of is staying authentic and consistent while building patiently.
What sets me apart is my mindset treat music like a long game. I move with purpose, value depth over hype, and aim to create work that lasts.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something that might surprise people is how intentional and disciplined I am behind the scenes. I’m quiet with it, but I treat my life and my music like a routine planning, reflecting, and moving with purpose. A lot of my writing comes from stillness, not chaos.
People might hear the confidence in the music and assume it’s just instinct, but it’s really built from patience, self-control, and responsibility, especially as a father. That balance doesn’t always show, but it’s what shapes everything I create.
